Check Point Software Advances Internet Security with Latest Update to VPN-1/FireWall-1

Check Point 2000 SP-2 Introduces New Features and Advances Security

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – July 26, 2000 – Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced the availability of Check Point 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP-2). Check Point 2000 is a comprehensive, integrated Internet security solution and includes Check Point's market-leading VPN-1 and FireWall-1 products. Built upon the company's Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture, these enhancements include key capabilities that extend VPN/firewall security and add important new features.

Highlights of the new version include:
  • VPN Remote Access: VPN-1 SecureClient and VPN-1 SecuRemote solutions enable remote users to access their corporate network from behind a gateway that is performing network address translation (NAT), such as a cable/DSL modem or a firewall in a hotel or at another company.
  • High Availability and Scalability: Improved scalability for VPNs and high availability (HA) environments now on the Linux platform.
  • HTTP Performance: New security capabilities such as advanced URL filtering and logging are incorporated into Check Point's core Stateful Inspection engine to deliver wire-speed performance.
  • Application Support and Performance: Enhanced support and performance for the latest versions of Oracle 8i eBusiness applications, and the latest features of H.323 Voice over IP (VoIP) protocol.
  • eBusiness Content Security: A new open interface allowing eBusiness applications to be scanned for malicious or erroneous data at the VPN/firewall gateway.
  • Advanced Security: Enhanced security features to respond to the latest known security attacks and potential configuration errors. Testing and verification by external independent security experts ensures the market's highest level of security.

Check Point Software recommends that customers maintain their systems to the highest level of security and upgrade to Check Point 2000 SP-2. Service packs for other versions (VPN-1/FireWall-1 4.0 and VPN-1 Appliance) are also available.
