Check Point Software Introduces SVN Phase II to Enable Secure eBusiness Applications

Next Step in Secure Virtual Network (SVN) Architecture Delivers First Integrated B2B Security Infrastructure

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – June 26, 2000 – Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced  Phase II of its Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture to enable true Internet security for eBusiness applications. The solution is the industry's first comprehensive Internet security infrastructure integrating security with B2B applications.

SVN Phase II offers eBusiness applications advanced security services that are currently enabled only at the network level, including:

  • Seamless authentication to multiple applications
  • Support for multiple authentication and public key infrastructure (PKI) mechanisms
  • Strong, transparent encryption for communication
  • Centralized user and security policy management
  • Unified communications across the Internet, intranets and extranets

The first products in this next phase of the SVN architecture are the new UserAuthority API and UserAuthority™, a new module to Check Point's VPN-1. (See separate release detailing the more than 30 companies who have already committed support for Check Point's new OPSEC eBusiness partnering initiative for SVN Phase II).

Check Point's UserAuthority provides eBusiness applications with a "glue," or common language, to interoperate with hundreds of disparate forms of security currently used by applications on corporate networks. UserAuthority uniquely enables business partners and customers to securely connect to otherwise incompatible application environments. SVN Phase II provides a complete infrastructure for comprehensive Internet security, complete manageability and mission-critical reliability.

"Oracle is already working with Check Point Software to certify the integration of VPN-1/FireWall-1 with Oracle Internet Directory and to help ensure that enterprise security and access information can be directly accessed through Check Point's firewall module," said Bill Maimone, vice president of Server Platform Technologies at Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL). "The added ability for Check Point's UserAuthority to share key user information with applications such as Oracle's Virtual Private Database architecture permits tighter integration of security policy enforcement, further advancing the horizon of eBusiness security solutions."

UserAuthority spans multiple applications and web servers to provide users with transparent, reliable and seamless secure access to eBusiness resources. In-house application developers are no longer hindered by developing their own complex security solutions, instead, they can deliver solutions leveraging Check Point's security infrastructure, dramatically reducing time to market.

"Today Check Point introduces the first step towards the next generation of eBusiness security," said Gil Shwed, chairman and chief executive officer of Check Point Software Technologies. "For the first time, the Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture will enable companies to achieve fully integrated eBusiness security."
