Check Point Establishes New Standard with Next Generation OPSEC Integration
Next Generation Provides Ground-breaking Levels of Integration Through OPSEC
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Oct. 8, 2001 Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ:CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced new integration capabilities for Check Point VPN-1®/FireWall-1® Next Generation that raise the standard for security integration. These advanced integration capabilities enable OPSEC (Open Platform for Security) partners and in-house developers to more tightly integrate their applications with Check Point's Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture, resulting in higher levels of security, expanded manageability and greater ease of use.
As the most widely supported security framework in the industry, Check Point's OPSEC alliance provides an open choice of best-of-breed security products and platforms, tightly integrated and assured through certification.
"We have dramatically extended the OPSEC Framework with the Check Point Next Generation release," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of business development and product management, Check Point Software Technologies. "The new OPSEC capabilities further meet the needs for end-to-end management and advanced client security.
" New OPSEC integration capabilities in Check Point Next Generation include expanded management integration and advanced client security:
Expanded Management Integration
- Integrated
Application Monitoring - OPSEC applications
now can be monitored centrally together with Check
Point products using the new Next Generation System
Status Viewer. This capability simplifies administration
by providing a global view of the entire security
solution, reducing the number of status interfaces
an administrator needs to track.
- Integrated
Security Updates for Applications - OPSEC
applications can utilize the new SecureUpdate feature
of Check Point Next Generation to automatically
update third-party software together with Check
Point products, ensuring that security is always
up-to-date.
- Integrated
Policy Access - OPSEC applications can now
integrate with Check Point's security policies,
objects and rule base via a programmatic interface
to provide a new level of security automation and
consistency.
- Optimized Data Retrieval - OPSEC applications, such as reporting and auditing products, can now receive security log data in a customized and highly efficient manner by utilizing data compression and filtering to gather specific information in the fastest possible manner.
"BMC Software is looking forward to the new management interfaces offered in the OPSEC SDK Next Generation," said David Samia, director of product marketing, Enterprise eBusiness Management, BMC Software (NYSE:BMC), one company taking advantage of enhanced management in NG. "We look forward to utilizing these interfaces to further the capabilities offered in our OPSEC Certified PATROL for Firewalls product line that ensures firewall availability and reliability. These interfaces will enable us to share critical management information with Check Point, easing the cost of maintenance configuration and helping us better optimize our customer's environments."
Advanced
Client Security:
The OPSEC Framework now enables standards-based seamless
integration of smart cards, enabling customers to
boost their VPN client authentication security easily
and transparently. In addition, a new OPSEC interface
for the VPN client enables customers to perform security
compliance checks involving OPSEC solutions on desktop
or laptop systems as a requirement to access to the
network or VPN. These security compliance checks provide
an added dimension to securing the client.
Gemplus (NASDAQ: GEMP), the world's leading provider of solutions empowered by smart cards, is one company utilizing the new VPN client authentication capabilities. "Smart cards provide an ideal mechanism to store sensitive information such as a user's authentication credentials," said Sven Hammar, Vice President of Gemplus' Financial and Security Services. "With the OPSEC SDK Next Generation, our joint customers can now take advantage of Check Point's industry leading security platform and implement even stronger authentication using the GemSAFE smart card."
"Providing virus protection at all layers of the enterprise is the most efficient and effective way to reduce the chances of infection," said Brian McElroy, Director of Business Development at Trend Micro (NASDAQ: TMIC), a leading network antivirus and Internet content security software and services provider. "Through the OPSEC SDK Next Generation interfaces to VPN-1 SecureClient, we will be able to ensure that remote users connecting to the corporate network will have the same level of virus protection as those inside the network."
