Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 Next Generation Delivers Over 500 Mbps Throughput and 1 Million Connections on a $4,000 Hardware Platform REDWOOD CITY, August 28, 2001 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today unveiled new performance benchmark results that validate the impressive price-performance that can be achieved when running Check Point's VPN-1®/FireWall-1® Next Generation software on midrange PCs, servers and "Secured by Check Point" appliances. These unprecedented results show that Check Point Next Generation delivers overall Internet security throughput of more than 500 megabits per second on an off-the-shelf $4,000 Linux-based PC/server. The configuration used in this benchmark was running Check Point's VPN-1/ FireWall-1 Next Generation Internet security product suite on a PC with an Intel® Xeon processor running a Linux operating system. This configuration is also capable of supporting one million concurrent firewall connections. This performance level supports wire speed VPNs for multiple T3 network links and connections exceeding OC-3 speed, making it a high performance, scalable solution for large enterprises and Internet data centers. "Today enterprises are seeking the best security solutions that can meet their current performance needs and also scale for the future," said Carol Stone, vice president of marketing for Check Point Software Technologies. "As these new test results show, Check Point's Next Generation software achieves record levels of performance on deployment hardware platforms costing less than a tenth the cost of competitive hardware platforms.
