Rainfinity's Next-Generation RainWall 2.0 Achieves Check Point OPSEC Certification

E-Business High Availability Software Provider Offers First Solution in the Industry that Combines Firewall and Server High Availability and Load Balancing on One Platform

SAN JOSE, Calif., January 24, 2001 -- Rainfinity, the provider of utility-class performance software for Internet dependent business, today announced that the new RainWall 2.0 firewall high availability module has received OPSEC (Open Platform for Security) Certification from Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP). This certification means that RainWall 2.0 has passed an exhaustive series of tests under a variety of operating conditions to prove its ability to integrate seamlessly and provide high availability and load balancing for Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1.

RainWall 2.0 is one of the new software modules that form Rainfinity's utility-class performance solution for Internet dependent business. It can be combined with Rainfinity's RainSLB 2.0 module to provide high availability and load balancing for both firewalls and Web servers from a single network layer.

"Rainfinity was the first software company to receive OPSEC certification for high availability with load balancing with our previous version of RainWall," said Olivier Helleboid, president and CEO of Rainfinity. "Our continued efforts in strengthening and enhancing RainWall with our newest offering have paid off. It is a great validation of the strength of our solution to have received OPSEC Certification from Check Point Software – the industry's leading recognized mark for Internet security integration."

"We have been very pleased with the performance and cost of ownership benefits we've experienced from using RainWall 1.5," said Victor Thompson of Boise Cascade. "It's no surprise that Rainfinity's next version would garner the same kudos as its predecessor. Our firewall high availability has resulted in a greater overall online experience for our internal and external Web users, and we are anxious to see how RainWall 2.0 might help us in the same way."

To achieve OPSEC certification, Check Point conducted a series of tests on RainWall 2.0 under various operating conditions to measure its performance as well as its ability to integrate with Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1. As an OPSEC partner with an OPSEC Certified product, Rainfinity can now offer Check Point customers a high availability, load balancing software-only solution that is scalable, effortless to install, cost effective and guaranteed compatible with Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1.

"With the growth of e-business and subsequent strain that increased usage can put on a company's Internet infrastructure, companies are in need of scalable high availability solutions," said Bradley Brown, director of business development, Check Point Software Technologies. "When combined with Check Point Software's VPN-1/FireWall-1, Rainfinity's RainWall offers advanced clustering capabilities that ensure high availability and solid performance for burgeoning e-business environments."

RainWall 2.0 Firewall High Availability Module
RainWall 2.0 boosts the availability, reliability and performance of Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 products, keeping them up and running around the clock, by creating a fully distributed gateway cluster that scales linearly and eliminates single points of failure. When combined with Rainfinity's RainSLB solution for server load balancing on the RainFront platform, companies for the first time can consolidate firewall high availability and server load balancing into a single, scalable network layer that is significantly less costly and easier to manage than current architectures, and which can be used to deploy additional security and traffic management functions.

RainWall software detects failures in all software and hardware components, while preventing loss of data by transparently failing over active connections, including encrypted VPN, from failing gateways to healthy ones, while reconfiguring itself without disrupting existing connections. RainWall's true dynamic load balancing shares the traffic load among all the nodes in the cluster and scales linearly to any number of nodes to accommodate traffic increases. Additional nodes can be added on the fly without interrupting service. Acquisition costs and cost of ownership are reduced by eliminating the need for dedicated hardware. RainWall offers ease of use and deployment, and features a new Web-based interface for simple configuration and management.
