New Report Shows Check
Point Significantly Leads With 62% Market Share
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., June 18,
2001 - Check Point Software Technologies
(Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet,
today announced it has increased its share of the worldwide virtual
private network (VPN) market to 62 percent, according to a new
report from Datamonitor, a leading global market analyst firm.
Datamonitor's "IPSec VPN Solutions" report accounts
for VPN hardware and software shipments and gives Check Point
the predominant share of the fast-growing worldwide VPN market,
with a lead of more than four-times any other vendor. These independent
results validate Check Point's continuing strong growth in the
VPN market -- an increase of over 10 percent in 2000, according
to similar research conducted this time last year.
Check Point is proliferating the VPN market through its world-class
VPN-1ä/FireWall-1® security software. An integrated security
solution that delivers VPN and firewall protection as a complete
layer, Check Point's VPN-1ä/FireWall-1® is available
as a standalone software solution or on a range of appliances
by industry-leading hardware vendors such as Nokia (NYSE: NOK),
Compaq (NYSE: CPQ), and Intrusion.com (Nasdaq: INTZ).
"Check Point's domination of the VPN market comes from the
strength of its technology and the powerful mind share that it
has developed through its world-class firewall and VPN solutions,"
said Ian Williams, Managing Analyst of Datamonitor's eSecurity
eSPP Technology practice. "Our research shows that the VPN
market will grow dramatically and Check Point is ideally positioned
to continue to capitalize on this growth."
"Check Point has both defined and led the VPN market and
built a unique value as a comprehensive platform for Internet
security," said Jerry Ungerman, president of Check Point
Software Technologies. "Check Point Next Generation, the
next major new release of our industry-leading Internet security
software, will continue to advance the VPN market and better meet
customer needs by making Internet security easy to use, manage
and scale, while helping companies dramatically cut communications
costs through the use of advanced VPN capabilities."
