Lucid Security Achieves OPSEC Certification from Check Point Software

Lucid Security's ipANGEL™ Active Defense System Integrates with Industry's Most Recognized Security Framework

Ambler, PA- October 23, 2002 - Lucid Security Corporation, today announced that it has achieved OPSEC™ (Open Platform for Security) certification for its ipANGEL™ Active Defense System, from Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet. Through OPSEC certification, ipANGEL seamlessly integrates with Check Point's market-leading VPN-1®/FireWall-1® Next Generation™ Internet security platform, providing customers with the unique capability to eliminate false positives and drop malicious activity in real-time at the firewall.

Integrating Lucid Security's ipANGEL with Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 NG enables users to enhance the level of security in their network infrastructure by deploying an active defense solution that leverages the interoperability of automated processes including vulnerability scanning, attack signature rules correlation and firewall policy mapping technology. Since these processes are automated, ipANGEL provides Check Point users with a seamless solution that is easy to deploy and efficient to maintain.

"By combining the Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 Next Generation platform with ipANGEL, users will have a continuous, self-tuning system that actively defends against attacks that are relevant to their network," said Vik Phatak, founder and CTO of Lucid. "By integrating vulnerability scanning with rules correlation, ipANGEL is constantly aware of what specific attacks can potentially cause harm, thereby eliminating the need to log and manage enormous amounts of erroneous information."

"Proactive network intrusion prevention is a critical component of network security," said Upesh Patel, group manager, OPSEC Alliance for Check Point Software Technologies. "We are pleased ipANGEL has achieved OPSEC Certification providing users with an integrated, easy to install, network intrusion prevention security solution."

Lucid's ipANGEL complements Check Point's SmartDefense, an Active Defense product that actively protects organizations from both known and unknown network attacks. SmartDefense blocks attacks by type and class using Check Point's patented Stateful Inspection technology and delivers real-time information on attacks as well as attack detection, blocking, logging, auditing and alerting.

"ipANGEL is what the marketplace has been asking for," said Will Bast, President of Lucid Security. "For several years, the industry has been trying to address the inherent weaknesses of intrusion detection. Lucid delivers an elegant solution that is receiving tremendous market acceptance and is ready today."
