Check Point Software Receives Special Honor from NASA
Outstanding Support and Secure XL VPN Solution Enables Vital Communication Between Space Station and Earth REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Sept. 30, 2002 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center has presented a special commendation to the company for outstanding support in implementing Check Point solutions - deemed mission-critical for secure, reliable communication between the Space Station and numerous sites on Earth. NASA was challenged with maintaining reliable VPN performance and connectivity between the Space Station and multiple sites on Earth while utilizing a proprietary, demand-intensive voice over IP (VoIP) application. NASA's VoIP application enables 200 simultaneous users to participate in a VPN session, each running eight active audio conferences - requiring a level of performance unheard of for traditional environments and critical for Space Station research teams. To solve this, NASA leveraged Check Point's SecureXL acceleration solution, complemented by outstanding technical services and existing VPN-1® Pro. SecureXL boosted VPN performance by 60 fold, enabling NASA to easily and efficiently facilitate communication between the Space Station team and multiple global sites while leveraging the cost-efficiency and security of their Check Point VPNs. Dr. Jan Davis presented Check Point Software Technologies with a Flight Projects Director's Commendation. In her remarks Dr. Davis recognized Check Point "for exhibiting and exemplifying the NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center's Core Values of People, Customers, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation. We recognize and congratulate Check Point for exceptional technical support and outstanding performance in helping Flight Projects Directorate achieve mission success at the Payload Operations and Integration Center. It is only through partnerships like this can we hope to achieve our goals." "We are very proud to accept this commendation from NASA," said Glenn Barlow, vice president, worldwide technical services, Check Point Software Technologies. "This honor reflects the complete solution Check Point brings to bear on every customer situation - market-leading technology coupled with world-class service and support." SecureXL, a framework of interfaces, software modules and industry standards, enables Check Point partners and customers to build cost effective VPN solutions to meet the most demanding performance requirements. SecureXL enables outstanding price/performance as confirmed by the fact that NASA was able to facilitate their complete VoIP deployment using only a single Check Point ClusterXL VPN gateway cluster.Check Point's Worldwide Technical Services team backs every technical support engagement with the same level of commitment and dedication to service excellence experienced by NASA.
