Check Point and Nokia Enhance Relationship
with New Reseller Agreement
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. and MOUNTAIN VIEW,
Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Oct. 7, 2002 - Check
Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:CHKP - News), the worldwide
leader in securing the Internet, and Nokia (NYSE:NOK - News), a
leading provider of best-of-breed VPN and security systems and Internet
Traffic Management solutions, today announced they have recently
enhanced their relationship with a new "one-stop" shopping experience
for customers to procure their market-leading Internet security
solutions. Under the new agreement, customers and partners are able
to enjoy unprecedented flexibility and choice in purchasing security
solutions directly from Nokia. This agreement follows on the commitment
made by the two companies in December 2001 to more closely align
with one another at all levels of the relationship, including sales,
engineering and marketing.
Nokia now sells the full range of Check Point's
market-leading VPN-1®/FireWall-1® solutions, including software
product licenses, software subscriptions and support offerings integrated
with Nokia IP Series appliances and Check Point's client and management
software. Additionally, the new agreement facilitates the creation
of attractive solution bundles -- a selection of Nokia network security
appliances, Check Point software and Nokia Horizon Manager -- that
simplify the procurement of the most popular combinations and provide
customers with a "one-stop" purchasing experience.
"We are pleased with the evolution of our Nokia
partnership to enhance customer choice," said Asheem Chandna, vice
president, business development and product management, Check Point
Software Technologies. "Today's announcement demonstrates our ongoing
commitment to jointly provide customers with market-leading security
solutions with the industry's lowest cost of ownership."
Nokia will offer customers Check Point software
subscriptions, coupled with Nokia appliances and support services,
completing the total offering and reflecting the relationship's
emphasis on leading the industry in customer satisfaction and choice.
"After five years of deep engineering collaboration
and the co-development of industry leading security solutions, this
agreement is a natural evolution of our relationship," said Dan
MacDonald, vice president of product management and marketing, Nokia
Internet Communications. "Our customers will be particularly pleased
with the new Nokia/Check Point bundled solutions for their value
as well as the all-in-one purchasing flexibility and choice they
offer."
Since the two companies announced their intent
in December 2001 to forge an even closer alliance, several highly
successful joint initiatives have been launched, including:
- Extending network protection to the small office/home
office with the Nokia IP30 and Check Point's Safe@ solution, featuring
worldwide distribution and support
- Ensuring high availability and scalability
through engineering collaboration on the Nokia IP Clustering solution,
enabling active session failover and dynamic load balancing of
VPN-1 and FireWall-1 traffic
- Delivering state of the art managed security
services through VPN-1/FireWall-1 VSX and wireless infrastructure
security with FireWall-1 GX, both of which are designed
to operate on Nokia's higher-end appliances
- A comprehensive network security management
solution based on the complementary features of Check Point's
SmartDashboard and Nokia Horizon Manager, offering the industry's
leading security policy management and appliance systems management
Availability
With the exception of Japan, the new "one-stop"
procurement option is available immediately from the Nokia/Check
Point distribution channel. Nokia/Check Point customers now have
a choice of purchasing and upgrading their hardware and software
separately or as solution bundles.
