"As a leading innovator of digital mapping and location technologies, we had a high standard to meet when we were evaluating replacements for our current VPN/firewall," comments Craig Wood, DeLorme IT systems engineer. "We evaluated a number of appliances from different vendors: Cisco, NetScreen, and Sun. We found our best option was the new appliance from Check Point and Sun. We see this appliance providing us with more flexibility and options. The ease-of-installation and deployment has allowed us to make improvements to our network infrastructure within the same allotted timeframe for installation. The unit was secure, stable, and reliable right out-of-the-box. This appliance, plus excellent support services from GE Access, will yield a stable and reliable VPN/firewall to carry DeLorme into the future."
"Today, Sun became the first major server vendor to deliver an enterprise-class dedicated security appliance," said Chris Christiansen, IDC Vice President for Security Products and Infrastructure Software. "Through its strategic alliance with a leader in security software, its strong commitment to Linux, and a reputation for high performance hardware, Sun is well positioned to take advantage of the rapidly growing Firewall/VPN security market."
The integrated solution comes in several different models and offers enterprises the ability to grow over time, meet the demands for a wide range of security needs and deliver increased performance and functionality at a lower price.
