Toshiba and SofaWare Team to Ensure Secure Broadband Internet Experience

Toshiba to Integrate Safe@ Security into Cable Modems for Home and Home Office Environments

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. and IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 14, 2002 - SofaWare Technologies, a Check Point™ Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:CHKP) company, and Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Network Products Division (NPD), today announced they have joined forces to ensure the broadband Internet experience for home and home office computer users is safe and secure. The new partnership reflects both companies' commitment to utilize SofaWare's Safe@ Internet security software in providing users with a new line of secure, turnkey cable modem gateways.

"Toshiba is committed to providing the most secure broadband experience on the market. The Safe@ security software developed by SofaWare and based on Check Point's enterprise-class and industry standard Stateful Inspection technology, is state-of-the-art," said Fred Berry, vice president and general manager for Toshiba NPD. "Consumers purchasing Toshiba's wireless cable modem gateway will now have the same level of protection that large enterprises have relied on for years."

The first Toshiba NPD solution to include SofaWare Safe@, the PCX5000 Wireless Cable Modem Gateway, was recently awarded DOCSIS, Wi-Fi and WHQL certifications, ensuring it meets with industry specifications and guarantees the modem's interoperability with qualified cable system headends. Unique in its class, the PCX5000 is a complete home networking solution that includes a cable modem, wireless and wired router and Safe@ Internet security software based on Check Point Software's market-leading VPN-1®/FireWall-1® technology. The PCX5000 can be configured through an intuitive Web management interface, simple enough to use by anyone.

"We are extremely pleased that Toshiba has chosen to partner with SofaWare to incorporate the Safe@ solution into their leading cable modems," said Sheila Aharoni, vice president, business development, SofaWare Technologies. "The powerful combination of Toshiba and SofaWare ensures peace-of-mind for broadband users and an easy way for service providers to deliver essential value-added security services to their customers."

Unlike PC-based firewalls that only protect a single computer, SofaWare's Safe@Home™ is the first comprehensive security solution designed to protect multiple Internet devices behind a single residential gateway. This unique approach allows protection for multiple PCs, laptops and other Internet-based multimedia devices. Additionally, a seamless upgrade path will allow for more comprehensive security solutions in the near future, including remote management by a service provider. This will greatly simplify installation, configuration and maintenance, and also will enable value-added security services, such as content filtering and email anti-virus.

Availability
Toshiba plans to make the PCX5000 Wireless Cable Modem Gateway available through the retail channel and MSOs in late October 2002.

Through this collaboration, Toshiba and SofaWare have developed, and will continue to develop and bring to market simple, turnkey enterprise-class security solutions essential for today's dynamic home and home office environments.
