REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - February 11,
2003 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP),
the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced FireWall-1®
GX v2.0, the next version of the company's market-leading wireless
carrier security solution. FireWall-1 GX v2.0 supports the emerging
GPRS protocol and enables carriers to deliver granular security
for protecting mobile-to-mobile communications and users from attacks.
Introduced one year ago and already the most-widely deployed security
solution among the world's leading wireless carriers, FireWall-1
GX now offers the following features and benefits to wireless carriers
and their mobile customers:
- GPRS Tunneling Protocol version 1
Release 1999 (GTP v1 Rel 99) Support - allows carriers
to deliver Check Point security over emerging 3G wireless networks
that offer greater bandwidth and quality of service to their customers.
- Intra-Tunnel Inspection - allows
carriers to define and enforce user-based security policies to
protect mobile-to-mobile handset communications.
- Overbilling Protection - protects
mobile users from receiving unsolicited and unwanted data initiated
by an attack in an attempt to inflate the account charges of an
unsuspecting customer.
"The new level of security incorporated in this version of
Check Point FireWall-1 GX addresses the requirements that are just
around the corner for leading wireless network carriers," said
Carol Stone, VP of Marketing at Check Point Software Technologies.
"To fully capitalize on the potential of 3G wireless networks,
carriers must incorporate robust and proven security solutions that
will protect the integrity and availability of the network."
FireWall-1 GX enables wireless carriers to fully realize the benefits
of 3G networks, including instantaneous, high-speed Internet access
for mobile users, by carefully designing-in proper security capabilities
that meet current and future customer requirements. Additionally,
FireWall-1 GX integrates with all Check Point Next Generation solutions,
