INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, SAN JOSE, Calif., February 19, 2003 -- Intel Corporation and Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ:CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced a multi-year agreement to work together on enhancing virtual private network (VPN) security and ease-of-use for corporate notebooks based on Intel Centrino mobile technology.
Intel and Check Point are collaborating to implement and validate highly protected wireless access solutions. Intel Centrino mobile technology-based systems with integrated wireless connectivity are expected to fuel new levels of mobility. To prepare for the increasingly mobile and wirelessly enabled corporate workforce, Intel and Check Point see the growing need to provide more sophisticated means for protecting these systems and their communications when operated locally or remotely.
The forthcoming Intel Centrino mobile technology-based systems can benefit from an enhanced and validated version of Check Point VPN-1 SecureClient software, the industry-leading client security solution that delivers centrally managed personal firewall protection and VPN connectivity. Intel is working with Check Point to optimize its client security on Intel Centrino mobile technology-based systems, with aim to further secure the computing environment. For Intel Centrino mobile technology-based systems the solution will provide VPN auto-launch capability in a wireless environment and incorporate support for two-factor hardware based authentication on systems integrating Trusted Platform Module (TPM) technology.
"Check Point is teaming with Intel to provide the highest levels of security to next generation wireless notebook PCs based on Intel Centrino mobile technology," said Gonen Fink, vice president, Solutions and Strategy for Check Point Software Technologies. "The combination of next generation mobile micro architecture, used in conjunction with Check Point's industry-leading client security, will deliver a robust, more secure wired and wireless mobile computing experience that maintains the integrity of the entire corporate network."
Mobile users utilize VPN technology that offers end-to-end encryption, to more securely connect with their enterprise LAN via a broad range of networks, including corporate, home and wireless "hotspots" in airports, hotels, restaurants and other public locations. The collaboration aims to empower enterprises with additional options for further securing their WLAN deployments and remote access by adding two-factor hardware based VPN authentication to their deployment architecture.
"VPN encryption provides a robust solution for delivering more secure connectivity on both wired and wireless connections," said Anand Chandrasekher, vice president and general manager, Intel's Mobile Platforms Group. "The enhanced, validated and verified Check Point VPN-1 SecureClient on Intel Centrino mobile technology-based systems with TPM support will enable enterprises to maximize productivity and efficiency by delivering more secure connectivity to mobile employees accessing corporate resources from anywhere."
This latest collaborative effort furthers Check Point and Intel's aims to deliver more secure notebooks, robust remote access, and higher levels of client security in an enterprise-computing environment.
