Hub Mode and Visitor Mode Enable
Centralized Inspection of Remote Traffic and
Remote Access Connectivity from Anywhere
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., -- May 19, 2003
- Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP),
the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that
VPN-1® SecureClient, the company's easy-to-deploy VPN
client with a centrally managed personal firewall, has been enhanced
to include two new access modes, Hub Mode and Visitor Mode.
These options enable centralized inspection of remote traffic, client-to-client
communication and advanced remote access connectivity that allows
employees to connect from anywhere.
IT managers are challenged with safeguarding remote employee communications
when they access the Internet directly to communicate with each
other or to surf the Web - often bypassing the corporate network
and its security policies. When this happens, client systems, and
in turn the corporate networks, are vulnerable to cyber threats
such as viruses and worms. In addition, employees working offsite
are themselves challenged by network infrastructures that often
prohibit the free flow of VPN client traffic. With Hub Mode and
Visitor Mode, these issues are easily addressed.
Hub Mode highlights:
- Gives network administrators the ability to route all remote
access communication through a central gateway, ensuring traffic
is inspected and audited before being forwarded to the Internet,
a remote site or another VPN client.
- Enables cost-savings by eliminating the need to deploy security
functions, such as URL filtering and anti-virus, to multiple locations.
- Makes it possible for remote users to utilize client-to-client
communications, such as Microsoft NetMeeting and Voice over IP
(VoIP) applications, by securing sessions between remote users
and between remote users and the corporate LAN.
Visitor Mode highlights:
- Enables connectivity from any location regardless of network
configuration of the firewall, NAT devices or proxy servers and
is especially important for companies with employees working off-site
at client locations.
"The ability to communicate remotely is essential in today's
dynamic business environment, but it must be done without compromising
security," said Carol Stone, vice president of marketing, Check
Point Software Technologies. "Using VPN-1 SecureClient in Hub
Mode ensures that even Internet and client-to-client communication
are subject to the same strict security measures as internal network
traffic."
With its unique centralized management and personal firewall capabilities,
VPN-1 SecureClient ensures that client traffic will not compromise
network security or become a back door into the corporate network.
In addition, VPN-1 SecureClient is extremely easy to implement across
a large distributed workforce.
The new version of VPN-1 SecureClient will be available early June,
2003. For more information please visit www.checkpoint.com/vpn-1clientmodes.
