Safe@Office Wins SC Magazine
"Recommended Buy"
and ZDnet "Editor's Choice" Awards
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Dec. 6, 2004
- Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP),
the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that
Safe@Office 225 has earned two independent endorsements from
UK security specialists. Safe@Office, Check Point's integrated VPN/firewall
security appliance for small businesses, was rigorously evaluated
by reviewers at SC Magazine
and ZDnet UK and emerged with
the "Editor's Choice" and "Recommended Buy"
awards following positive reviews.
Safe@Office 225 was analyzed in the areas of design, features, ease
of use, performance, documentation and value for money, and the
small business security appliance scored highly on every count.
SC Magazine gave a strong overall
rating of four out of five, and ZDnet's
verdict was an impressive eight and a half out of ten.
"Safe@Office has powerful and trusted firewall functionality
bolstered with a comprehensive range of add-ins," observed
Robert Jacques, reviewer at SC Magazine.
"It's a piece of cake to set up, has extremely well-designed
and easy to understand management monitoring tools and good documentation."
"Few alternatives offer the flexibility and upgrade options
of Safe@Office," commented Alan Stevens, reviewer at ZDnet
UK. "This, together with the Check Point pedigree, actually
makes it something of a bargain."
Safe@Office is designed to meet all the security needs of small
businesses, providing ease of use and simple management. The appliance
includes secure Internet connectivity, local networking, remote
and site-to-site access and browser-based management. Organizations
can also benefit from value-added services including anti-virus
and content filtering functionality. It was this breadth of features
in addition to the performance and simplicity that led reviewers
to score the product so highly.
Additionally, in November 2004, Check Point expanded its small business
product line with the introduction of the Safe@Office 400W, a series
of integrated, all-in-one wireless security appliances that include
a wireless access point and offer customers the same security technology
used by 100 percent of Fortune 100 companies.
Safe@Office Evaluation Methodology
SC Magazine evaluated Safe@Office
225 as part of a group test of fourteen integrated security appliances
for the small and medium business market. The aim was to find the
best products that offer simple configuration and management while
also protecting businesses from the vast array of potential security
threats, such as viruses, hackers, malicious employees and worms.
