Check Point Solidifies Lead in the Cellular Security Market

World's Leading Cellular Operators Rely on Check Point Cellular Network Security Solutions; Check Point Joins Prestigious GSM Association

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - March 22, 2004 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that its world-class security solution for protecting the infrastructure of mobile operator's networks, Check Point FireWall-1 GX™, is experiencing rapid worldwide adoption rates in the cellular security marketplace. As the first solution delivered to protect General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) 2.5G and emerging 3G networks, Check Point FireWall-1 GX solution secures the world's leading mobile operators, running both GPRS and UMTS networks, including operators in the Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange and Singtel groups. Today, Check Point also announced that Cellcom, the largest cellular operator in Israel, has successfully implemented a comprehensive security architecture using Check Point FireWall-1 GX.

Due to the increasing convergence between wireless and IP networks, IT administrators face an exponential onslaught of attacks that to-date have been confined to the world of wire line data. Many of these issues were highlighted in the Second European Cellular Security Forum which took place in Rome last year, key security threats identified were handset authentication and verification; vulnerability to IP threats currently associated with the Internet and network threats such as over-billing and mobile-to-mobile attacks. Operators also reported the presence of worms within their cellular networks and the increase of threats to PDA style phones. The Forum endorsed the need for an integral Cellular and IP security infrastructure to meet the threats of 2004. With FireWall-1 GX, Check Point has addressed these cellular security threats and delivers the best security to protect communications, transactions and roaming between mobile operators by protecting the gateway between operators' networks.

"Check Point's market-leading FireWall-1 GX technology incorporates our patented Stateful Inspection technology which provides accurate and highly efficient traffic inspection, allowing mobile operators to achieve maximum security," said David Aminzade, EMEA Sales Manager, Wireless and Broadband for Check Point Software Technologies. "In addition, cellular customers can benefit from high levels of performance and scalability, and they can rest assured that their mobile data will remain protected."

Check Point Joins GSM Association
Demonstrating further traction in the cellular security market, Check Point also announced that it has joined the GSM Association (GSMA), the global trade association for the world's GSM mobile operators. As an Associate Member of the GSMA, Check Point will participate in the Security Group, which is driving security standards for GSM network infrastructure, devices and services.

"Our Associate Membership program is designed to allow vendors to contribute their knowledge and expertise to the many issues being addressed by our working groups," said Rob Conway, CEO of the GSM Association and Member of its Board. "I am delighted to welcome Check Point as an Associate Member of the GSM Association."

Aminzade continued: "The work of the GSM Association is critical to defining sound security architectures for future cellular networks, and our participation will ensure that we are at the forefront of these developments. As the first company to introduce a 2.5G and 3G wireless network security solution to the market in 2002, Check Point can provide the GSM Association with valuable insight on the latest wireless security vulnerabilities and customer needs."
