Crossbeam Launches Internal
Security Strategy with "InterSpect on X" Featuring Check
Point InterSpect on Crossbeam's X-Series Security Services Switches
CONCORD, Mass. - October 25, 2004 -
Crossbeam Systems®, Inc., a leading global developer
of total security solutions required for safer, simpler networks,
today announced the availability of InterSpect from Check
Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP) on its X-Series
security services switches. The combined "InterSpect on X"
solution is the only internal security gateway that delivers up
to 8 gigabits per second of throughput in a single chassis and offers
the unmatched port density required to segment and protect large
enterprise networks along with the 99.999% reliability required
to operate in those demanding network environments.
InterSpect is available for Crossbeam's X40®, X45, and
X80 security services switches that are currently deployed
with more than 250 enterprise and service provider customers worldwide.
A number of Crossbeam customers in the United States and Europe
have already deployed InterSpect on X with additional customer trials
and testing in progress.
Using its Application Intelligence technology, InterSpect
intelligently inspects internal traffic to identify and block unauthorized
or malicious behavior and specific attacks, provides security segmentation
to prevent unauthorized access between network zones and quarantines
computers generating suspicious activity. InterSpect also features
Check Point's SmartDefense technology to proactively and dynamically
protect against known or unknown attacks and defend against vulnerabilities
before they are exploited.
"Traditional networking vendors have attempted to address
internal security by adding security features to their existing
switches or routers, an approach that delivers second-rate security
and results in degraded network performance," said Peter George,
president and CEO of Crossbeam Systems. "InterSpect on X represents
a transformational security platform that delivers true convergence
of networking and security for internal networks - the ability to
deliver bits quickly and monitor, block and quarantine attacks just
as fast."
"Internal security attacks have caused billions of dollars
in damage to enterprises in the past few years and companies are
increasingly looking to create dynamic defenses around internal
network segments to help prevent outbreaks," said Gonen Fink,
vice president, solutions and strategy for Check Point Software
Technologies. "For high-end enterprises that require multi-gigabit
performance with high port density, InterSpect on Crossbeam's X-Series
platforms gives customers the performance, network segment capacity
and reliability needed to address their internal security requirements
and provides a high-end complement to Check Point's own InterSpect
appliances."
Benefits of InterSpect on X
InterSpect provides innovative pre-emptive attack protection by
providing the industry's most intelligent and adaptive inspection
technology to apply proactive defenses against internal threats.
For large enterprises, the success of this proactive internal security
strategy is based on the security gateway's performance, port density
and reliability, which are key differentiators for Crossbeam:
- Large Network Segment Capacity -
a key benefit for InterSpect is its ability to segment
networks to better identify, control and quarantine outbreaks.
Crossbeam's X-Series switches give customers tremendous flexibility
to divide and secure their network in up to 32 segments, based
either on a geographic location, business function or other logical
separation driven by a specific company's security policies.
- Multi-Gigabit InterSpect Performance
- customers are often forced to compromise network performance
for security, but Crossbeam X-Series switches deliver unparalleled
InterSpect performance that scales up to 8 gigabits per second
of throughput.
- Flexible Deployment Options - Crossbeam
X-Series platforms can be deployed in the core, distribution or
access layers in either bridge or switch modes so they can be
inserted into networks with minimal or no changes.
- 'Self-Healing', Fail Open Reliability
- internal networks are always protected through Crossbeam's
single- or dual-box, high availability with interface and application
redundancy and self-healing, fail open capabilities.
As strategic partners, Crossbeam is working closely with Check
Point to make updates and enhanced versions of InterSpect available
to its customer base as soon as possible on an on-going basis.
Availability
InterSpect on X includes a Crossbeam application processing module
(APM), Check Point InterSpect license and a one year subscription
to Check Point's SmartDefense real-time update service. The solution
is available directly from Crossbeam and its worldwide network of
Crossbeam Authorized Partner Program distributors and resellers.
