Check Point Protects Against Download.Ject Trojan in Advance of Exploit
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., -- June 28, 2004 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that its industry-leading VPN-1® Next Generation product lines provided defenses against a new Trojan referred to as Download.Ject prior to its emergence. The Trojan first broke on June 24, 2004, and Check Point has provided defenses since June 9, 2004 (please refer to Check Point's June 9, 2004 advisory, CPAI-2004-22, at http://www.checkpoint.com/securitycenter/advisories/index.html). The Download.Ject Trojan affects customers using Microsoft IIS servers and Internet Explorer 5.0 and above. Spreading rapidly across the Internet, the Download.Ject Trojan installs malicious software on computers, captures usernames, passwords and credit card information, and sends the compromised data to a server on the Internet.
