Mexican Government Chooses Check Point to Secure More Than 3,000 Virtual Classroom Sites
The National Institute for Adult Education to rely on Check Point solutions for unmatched protection, secure remote access and comprehensive management of its continuing education facilities throughout Mexico REDWOOD CITY, Calif., January 7, 2004 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that the Mexican government's National Institute for Adult Education (INEA) has chosen to implement Check Point's renowned Internet security solutions to easily and cost-effectively secure more than 3,000 continuing education sites throughout Mexico. A federally funded initiative, INEA aims to offer adults flexible access to a higher level of education through Internet-based courses - an initiative supported by President Vicente Fox, who is seeking to install more than 20,000 new online classes by 2006. Headquartered in Mexico City with a growing number of remote sites located throughout Mexico, INEA's technical team realized that using the Internet as a backbone for connectivity presented tremendous cost-savings, but raised considerable security concerns. INEA required a scalable network architecture that could provide comprehensive security to protect against Internet attacks, as well as centralized management to ease the burden of defining and distributing different elements of the security policy to remote sites. INEA chose to implement Check Point solutions to realize the following benefits:
"This project is an important step towards providing Mexican citizens the opportunity to get a higher education online without compromising security and connectivity. After evaluating other security solutions, we found that Check Point represented a very good investment and offered the most comprehensive tools for securing and centrally managing the INEA network," said Ramon de la Pena, general director for INEA. "Check Point solutions allow for rapid deployment of secure virtual classrooms from our headquarters location and ease of management for our growing number of remote sites." "As more education facilities realize the cost-efficiencies and flexibility associated with the Internet, it is essential to protect virtual classroom sites with comprehensive security," said Vicente Amozurrutia, territory manager, Check Point Software Technologies Mexico. "We are pleased to support Mexico's National Institute for Adult Education with Check Point solutions that will enable their online education facilities to be securely connected, managed and protected against Internet attacks.
