Sesame Sows Check Point Seed
Standardises Entire Infrastructure on Check Point Security Solutions London, UK, -- November 16, 2004 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that Sesame, the UK's biggest provider of independent financial advice, is replacing its entire legacy firewall and VPN solutions with Check Point products. Sesame is also upgrading its management and reporting tools to Check Point SmartCenter Pro and SmartView Reporter to improve infrastructure management, cut administration time and increase reliability for its users and employees. "We chose to standardise on Check Point because of its excellent track record in providing reliable, high performance security products," commented Alan Mercer, IT Security Manager, Sesame Ltd. "As the de facto industry standard, its products are mature and have stood up to scrutiny in the marketplace. Our previous security infrastructure was a complex mixture of products from Cisco, Symantec, Watchguard and Microsoft that was difficult and time-consuming to manage. With Check Point not only have we reduced the complexity, but we also have a far more reliable infrastructure which provides an intuitive learning curve for our employees." The drive behind the project is to centralise security infrastructure
management and improve the reliability of applications, such as
email, for Sesame's 800 employees. In addition it is expected to
speed up the time to market for new products which Sesame delivers
via its portal service, Assureweb. "With five sites, two Internet Service Providers and heavy reliance on email and the Internet, Sesame faces a common challenge of ensuring 100% availability without impeding performance," commented Nick Lowe, Regional Director, UK, Ireland and South Africa for Check Point Software Technologies. "Standardising on Check Point gives Sesame a solution that is seamlessly integrated with the additional benefit of being easy to manage remotely from any of its four locations." Once the rollout is completed Sesame will have ten Nokia IP security platforms running a combination of Check Point VPN-1 Pro and VPN-1 Express. The Nokia IP security platforms are integrated with software from Check Point and come pre-tested and configured, enabling Sesame to conduct its infrastructure overhaul in a matter of weeks. Every firewall will be centrally managed from Check Point SmartCenter Pro, a console that will be used to push application updates from one central location, avoiding the need to visit each site. Integrated into the Smart Center dashboard is Check Point SmartView Reporter, a comprehensive reporting tool, that enables security administrators to gain in-depth intelligence of security, network and user activity. It delivers more accurate reports, which previously were generated using a cumbersome manual process. The rollout will be carried out over a six-week period by Sesame
