the introduction of VPN-1® Edge W, the first series of
enterprise-level VPN/firewall wireless security appliances for remote
site business locations, branch offices and partner sites. By integrating
Check Point's industry-leading VPN-1®/FireWall-1® technology
with multiple high availability options and scalable management
for thousands of gateways, VPN-1 Edge W provides flexible high-speed
wireless access, unmatched security protection, simple and scalable
management and business continuity.
With the new VPN-1 Edge series of wireless security appliances,
enterprise customers experience the best wireless connectivity solution
for large-scale VPN deployments. In just minutes, customers can
have the appliance up-and-running, adding gateways as needed, and
policies can be managed from a central location, thus eliminating
the need for onsite IT staff. Users have the freedom to access corporate
data throughout the office without the difficulty and cost of running
wires. By offering multiple high-availability features, VPN-1 Edge
W ensures customers have secure wireless access to network resources
24x7.
The VPN-1 Edge W series of wireless security appliances include
the following technology features:
- Support for 802.11b/g/Super G standards reaching wireless network
speeds of up to 108 Mbps
- Extensive wireless coverage of up to 300 meters indoors and
up to a full kilometer outdoors with extended range (XR) enabled
wireless cards
- Complete firewall isolation between wired and wireless users
and between temporary "guest users" and permanent users
running VPN client software
- Full port-based and tag-based VLAN support
