Check Point and SanDisk Deliver Secure Virtual Workspace
Check Point Abra combines Check Point security and VPN software with SanDisk secure USB drive to turn any PC into a corporate desktop
Redwood City, CA —
Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, and SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), the global leader in flash memory cards, today announced that the companies will provide businesses with a secure virtual workspace through a USB drive. The new solution, Check Point Abra, combines a SanDisk high-performance, encrypted USB Flash drive with Check Point virtualization, VPN and security technologies to create a device from which mobile workers can access files and applications anywhere and anytime.
Accessing corporate networks through unmanaged and unprotected computer terminals or flash drives can create security and compliance issues for companies with remote workers. Unsecured endpoints and malware put company data at risk. With Abra, remote employees can create a virtual environment on these devices, mitigating risks and providing the added convenience of turning any PC into their corporate desktop.
“With Abra, businesses gain a secure, easy-to-use and cost-effective alternative to issuing laptops to all workers or allowing personal equipment access the network,” said Ben Khoushy, vice president of endpoint security at Check Point. “Through our close business relationship, we’re uniting the industry’s best USB drive technology from SanDisk with market-leading Check Point security software.”
“By combining SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise secure USB drives with CheckPoint’s security and VPN technologies, organizations can provide corporate desktop access to their employees without the need of a bulky laptop, offering a complete solution for the mobile workforce with minimal cost and complexity,” said Roy Ramati, vice president, enterprise, SanDisk. “A simple setup and deployment of a USB device turns any desktop into a secure workspace that maintains the highest degree of security and lowers administrative overhead for IT organizations.”
Abra users simply plug an Abra USB stick into a Windows-based PC and enter their credentials to initiate a virtual workspace. The Abra work session remains isolated from the host PC, ensuring sensitive data remains on Abra and preventing data loss. Hardware and software encryption also protects data while in use and when an Abra drive is not in operation.
