Thurber Technology Group Announces New Service To Design And Install Secure Intranets For Corporations

Partnership with Check Point Software Will Encourage Expanded Usage of Security and Web-based Technologies Among Sun Solaris and Microsoft Windows NT Users

Portland, OR —

Seeking to meet corporations' burgeoning demands for Internet-based technologies, Thurber Technology Group (TTG) announced today that it has extended its network consulting, design and implementation service to include network security, a critical issue for intranets.

To further enhance this new addition to its suite of professional services, TTG announced that it will resell and support products from CheckPoint Software Technologies, Ltd., makers of FireWall-1, the market leader in network security software. TTG will sell and support CheckPoint's existing FireWall-1 product for Sun Solaris and their new FireWall-1 product for Windows NT. Sun's Solaris operating system is the leader for Internet servers and Microsoft's Windows NT operating system is emerging as the new standard for local area networks.

"The growing number of corporations revamping their network infrastructure to incorporate advanced Internet technologies has created a tremendous demand for flexible, easy-to-use solutions to protect the corporate enterprise," stated John Cunningham, vice president of worldwide sales and field operations for CheckPoint Software Technologies, Inc. "We are pleased to partner with TTG and combine its consulting expertise with our security product offerings to provide our customers with the tools necessary for secure global connectivity."

"As corporations begin to explore the Internet, our clients are asking for help in designing, implementing, and maintaining security for World-Wide-Web based applications," said Alex Thurber, president of TTG in Portland, Oregon. "This is a natural extension of our network management services practice."

With FireWall-1, TTG can design and install a corporate intranet that is customized to meet any company's security requirements. The network can be designed to protect against external intruders as well as internal, unauthorized users by denying access to the network or to specific servers containing sensitive data within the network.

"I think we will see an explosion in Web-based technologies, as corporations understand that security is no longer an issue and they move quickly to take advantage of the Web's flexible low-cost technology," said Thurber. "Intranets allow companies to utilize the best of Internet technology internally to save time and money in distributing critical corporate information."

Thurber Technology Group is a leading provider of services and products designed to build and manage computer network infrastructures especially those involved in the Internet and intranets. TTG provides customized, integrated solutions for its customers' network needs by combining a comprehensive offering of value-added services with its expertise in products from Sun, Microsoft, Cisco and other leading vendors of PCs, network products, computer peripherals and software.
