Data Fellows Announces Membership in Check Point Software's OPSEC Alliance Program

ESPOO, FINLAND (April 29, 1997) - Data Fellows, a leader in computer security, today announced charter membership in Check Point Software Technologies' Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSEC) Alliance. Data Fellows will develop and integrate an anti-virus component based on its award-winning F-PROT technology with Check Point's enterprise-wide security framework.

"We are delighted to join an alliance whose objectives are consistent with our approach to information security," said Jari Holmborg, Director of International Sales of Data Fellows. "Our participation in the OPSEC Alliance allows us to share our expertise with other participants to create integrated security solutions that provide our customers with real value."

F-PROT Professional for Firewall-1 Stops Viruses at the Doorstep

F-PROT Professional for FireWall-1, available June, 1997, automatically scans all email messages and file transfers as the data comes through the firewall from the Internet, stopping viruses at the corporate doorstep. This provides the corporation with unparalleled real-time virus protection.

The connection between F-PROT Professional and FireWall-1 is provided by F-PROT Professional Anti-Virus Gateway, which connects to FireWall-1 using the Content Vectoring Protocol (CVP) interface. F-PROT Professional for FireWall-1 is based on a multi-tiered architecture to ensure performance for even the most demanding environments.

The different modules may reside on separate computers which are connected through a network. This architecture allows FireWall-1 to be deployed on Windows NT, Solaris, HP/UX, or any other platform where CVP is available. Virus scanning is done from a Windows NT machine which runs the standard shrink-wrapped F-PROT Professional for Windows NT product. The scan alerts network administrators of any file viruses or macro virus attachments using SNMP and other industry standard interfaces.

About OPSEC

Check Point's Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity [OPSEC] is a revolutionary concept in enterprise-wide security — a single platform that integrates and manages all aspects of network security through an open, extensible management framework. Third party security applications can plug into the OPSEC framework via published application programming interfaces (APIs), industry-standard protocols and INSPECT, a high-level scripting language. Once integrated into the OPSEC framework, all applications can be configured and managed from a central point, utilizing a single policy editor.

F-PROT Professional – ultimate protection against viruses

F-PROT Professional is the corporate choice world-wide to provide the best possible protection against all types of viruses. F-PROT detects all macro viruses, file viruses and other virus types immediately as they are downloaded from the Internet, copied from a diskette or launched from a file server over the local area network. F-PROT Professional comes with an update service, regular virus newsletters, hot-line and on-line support and extensive documentation.
