Sequel Technology Joins Check Point Software's OPSEC Alliance

Internet Management Software Company Joins Industry's First Enterprise Security Platform

BELLEVUE, WA -- April 21, 1997 - Sequel Technology, the leader in the development, marketing and support of Internet Management Software products, including the award winning Sequel Net Access Manager, today announced it is joining Check Point Software Technologies' OPSEC Alliance, an open, industry-wide initiative dedicated to providing enterprise-wide security solutions. Designed to guarantee interoperability at the policy level between best-of-class, leading edge security products, Sequel joins many other industry leaders announcing their membership in the security program.

Check Point's Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSEC) is a single platform that integrates and manages all aspects of enterprise security through an open, extensible management framework, using a combination of published application programming interfaces (APIs), support for industry-standard protocols and a high-level scripting

language. "As a Framework partner, Sequel's products specifically meet the stringent compatibility requirements for an OPSEC-enabled security technology," stated Stuart Rosove, Sequel's chief executive officer. "We are excited to be affiliated with Check Point, one of the worldwide leaders in the network security market, and look forward to the benefits the alliance will bring including industry-wide momentum, recognition and exposure."

Sequel Net Access Manager features distributed access controls and detailed reports enabling organizations to better manage their Internet and intranet usage. Technical and non-technical departments can collect data to easily manage and enforce policies for Internet and intranet access. The reports show which sites are being visited and by whom, who the most active users or groups are, and more. After reviewing the reports, managers make well-informed decisions about blocking sites or scheduling access during certain times of the day. Access costs can be allocated to specific departments based on actual vs. estimated usage which ensures that acceptable use policies are being followed.

"Proactive response in managing Internet, intranet and extranet usage for employees, partners, and customers will provide the level of security and access enforcement needed by the marketplace as Internet technology establishes itself as the standard for worldwide electronic communication," said Asheem Chandna, director of business development for Check Point Software Technologies . "We see Sequel's products as being a vital component to the OPSEC Alliance as we deliver a comprehensive solution to enterprise security policy enforcement."

OPSEC integration allows Sequel Net Access Manager to provide an enhanced level of security and access policy enforcement. Utilizing the extensive data available from the Check PointTM FireWall-1 network security solution, Net Access Manager will allow organizations to pinpoint those areas in their network that require additional policy attention. Electronic mail, file transfers, and the implication of authentication, and encryption technologies will be addressed. Sequel Net Access Manager will integrate with the OPSEC platform via the published application programming interfaces (APIs). Utilizing the extended data fields available in FireWall-1TM logs, Net Access Manger will process this information in real-time, incorporating it into it's integrated reporting and user access database. Reports incorporating FireWall-1 log information, such as: FTP file names, FTP get vs. put, email address translation of sender and receiver, and encryption and authentication data will be used to enhance the level of security policy awareness.
