Strategic Partnership Delivers First Integrated VPN Solution with Plug-and-Play Hardware Acceleration November 24, 1998 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKPF) and Chrysalis-ITS today announced that they have strengthened their established relationship by entering into an OEM agreement which will result in the delivery of a VPN solution designed to address the performance requirements of multiple TI, Ethernet and T3 networks. Under the terms of the agreement, Check Point, the worldwide leader in policy-based Virtual Private Network (VPN) solutions for the enterprise, will OEM the cryptographic accelerator card that it developed with Chrysalis-ITS, the leading vendor of encryption accelerators for the network security industry. Presently, Check Point delivers the industry's highest performance software-based VPN solution with integrated access control, authentication, and content security. The partnership builds on this industry leadership by enabling enterprise customers to purchase the first integrated VPN security solution with plug-and-play hardware acceleration, building on Check Point's industry-leading software VPN solution. Check Point VPN-1 Accelerator Card, the Check Point-branded hardware accelerator product, is sold as part of Check Point's VPN-1 product family and provides the fastest hardware accelerated VPN solution on the market. Because of the seamless kernel level integration of VPN-1 software and the VPN-1 Accelerator Card, users with Solaris and Windows NT systems can connect the plug and play accelerators transparently into the VPN-1 solution, without any reconfiguration. "Chrysalis-ITS has a solid reputation for developing innovative, high-performance, extremely secure technology and products," said Dr. Deborah Triant Rieman, president and CEO of Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "This strategic relationship is a natural evolution for Chrysalis and Check Point which is resulting in a comprehensive VPN solution for customers with high-speed networks." In February of this year, the two companies signed a joint development agreement for cryptographic accelerator collaboration. "With 57,000 FireWall-1 installations and 10,000 VPN installations, Check Point is the leading enterprise network security and VPN vendor in the industry," said Steven Baker, president & CEO of Chrysalis-ITS. "This partnership makes Check Point the first vendor to deliver a manageable and scaleable software VPN solution with the security and increased performance benefits of hardware acceleration."
VPN-1 Accelerator Card is a secure high performance cryptographic accelerator that off-loads cryptographic processing freeing the CPU to perform other critical activities. VPN-1 Accelerator Card is a plug-and-play hardware PCI card for Sun Solaris and Windows NT platforms that speeds Check Point's VPN performance through acceleration of IPSec, IKE encryption without any drain on CPU resources. Supporting up to T3 throughput rates, VPN-1 Accelerator Card accelerates both DES and Triple DES data encryption. With the addition of VPN-1 Accelerator Card, users realize the performance gains of acceleration without having to make any changes to their enterprise security policy.
Check Point VPN-1 Accelerator Card will be available in December 1998 in North America with worldwide availability beginning in early 1999 through Check Point's channel of resellers, distributors, VARs and ISPs. Check Point VPN-1 Accelerator Card is priced at $3,995 US.
