FireWall-1 and TELEMATE.Net integration simplifies firewall monitoring and reporting

Atlanta, - January 7, 1998 - TELEMATE Software, Inc. announced today that it has integrated its TELEMATE.Net TM event analysis and reporting solution with Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.'s Check PointTM FireWall-1 enterprise security solution using Check Point's OPSECTM Software Developer Kit (SDK), further expanding its involvement in Check Point Software Technologies, Ltd.'s OPSEC (Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity) Alliance.

TELEMATE seamlessly integrates with Check Point's FireWall-1 using Check Point's OPSEC software developer kit (SDK). As a framework partner solution, version 1.23 of TELEMATE.Net interoperates with the Check Point FireWall-1 enterprise security solution via the LEA (Log Export API).

TELEMATE.Net makes it easy for network and other information technology managers to translate large amounts of abstract Internet data into concise business reports. These reports help enhance productivity, improve operational efficiency, control and allocate costs, augment security and prevent misuse among Internet users. TELEMATE analyzes FireWall-1 events and relates Internet activity and costs to a directory of users, departments and site names. Automated reporting tools, extensive report customization and print/HTML/E-mail outputs deliver timely, focused information to help manage acceptable use policies with a single, highly-integrated security solution.

Today's announcement further expands TELEMATE's involvement in Check Point Software's Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSECTM ) Alliance. An industry-wide initiative designed to ensure interoperability at the policy level between best-of-class security products, the OPSEC Alliance provides customers with a comprehensive set of components that are easily integrated into a single enterprise-wide security policy.

"TELEMATE.Net complements FireWall-1 by providing users with additional capabilities to analyze firewall traffic and facilitate network traffic accounting and billing," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of business development for Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "TELEMATE's integration with our Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity is another example of how our architecture enables us to integrate best-of-breed solutions to address the growing and changing range of user requirements."

"TELEMATE.Net's FireWall-1 integration offers Check Point Software customers easy implementation of Internet monitoring and reporting," said Kent Jones , executive vice president of TELEMATE Software. "As a product suite, the combined TELEMATE.Net and FireWall-1 solution can provide information regarding Internet use that helps managers understand how bandwidth is used, which sites are accessed and who's hitting those sites. TELEMATE.Net can also assist managers in allocating Internet costs and improving Internet network performance," he adds.

"One of the drawbacks of Internet use is the risk of lost productivity and uncontrolled expenses. TELEMATE.Net helps businesses manage their Internet use so they can enjoy the Net's benefits without exposing themselves to unnecessary risks.
