ENICOM and Check Point Software Team up to Provide Secure Enterprise Connectivity Solutions in Japan

ENICOM To Deliver Network Security and Management Services Based On Check Point FireWall-1 and FloodGate-1

TOKYO, JAPAN January 27, 1998 -- Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKPF) today announced a partnership with ENICOM (NIPPON STEEL Communication & Systems Inc.), a major Japanese system integrator, whereby ENICOM will integrate Check Point's award-winning Check PointTM FireWall-1 enterprise security software and its FloodGate-1TM bandwidth management solution into its product portfolio. Focused on the Japanese market, ENICOM will leverage Check Point's products to provide its customers with complete, enterprise-wide capabilities for managing Internet and Intranet security and network performance.

Under the terms of the agreement, ENICOM will integrate FireWall-1 in its solutions, as well as provide security services such as consulting, planning, installation and operations.

FireWall-1 is the foundation of Check Point's OPSECTM (Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity) framework. OPSEC integrates and manages all aspects of network security through an open, extensible management framework using a combination of published application programming interfaces (APIs), industry-standard protocols and a high-level scripting language to provide a single framework. With OPSEC, customers can easily, seamlessly, and selectively integrate a full spectrum of security applications, defined and driven by a single, central enterprise-wide security policy. More than 100 industry leaders have joined the alliance to-date, ensuring interoperability at the policy level between best-of-class, leading edge security products.

The flagship product of Check Point's Enterprise Traffic Management product FloodGate-1 is based on the Stateful Inspection technology patented and invented by Check Point. FloodGate-1 allows organizations to dynamically control traffic on congested Internet/Intranet links by managing network traffic at an aggregate level to deliver reliable performance for critical applications and users. An enterprise-wide traffic management policy manages all inbound and outbound IP-based traffic by applying user-defined rules to control bandwidth usage for entire classes of traffic, not just individual connections. FloodGate-1's powerful, real-time traffic monitoring capabilities diagnose the source of network congestion to help the network manager set the appropriate policy and ensure the availability of critical services.

"As Japanese businesses expand their use of the Internet and Intranets, ENICOM is addressing customer concerns regarding network security and performance," said Mr. Toshiyuki Sengoku, director of Nippon Steel Information and Communication Systems, Inc. "Valuable corporate resources must be protected from intruders; simultaneously, there is a strong demand to improve network performance. Because of its market leadership and technology innovation, Check Point is a clear choice to be ENICOM's partner in providing secure enterprise connectivity solutions to our customers."

"Business and commercial use of the Internet is growing dramatically all over the world, and Check Point's products deliver imperative network security and traffic management capabilities," said Marius Nacht, vice president of international operations for Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. "We are pleased to team with ENICOM to deliver our market-proven FireWall-1 enterprise security solution, as well as FloodGate-1, which enables organizations to define and manage enterprise-wide bandwidth management policies, optimize network performance and alleviate network congestion."
