GRIC Communications to Support Check Point Software Technologies' VPN-1 Solution for Remote Access Service

MILPITAS, CA., August 3, 1998 – GRIC Communications, Inc. and Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKPF), today announced a comprehensive, virtual private network (VPN) capability for users of GRICtraveler™ 3.0 remote access software. Combining GRICtraveler with the Check Point™ VPN-1™ software solution gives users guaranteed total security when remotely accessing the Internet or their corporate LANs.

GRICtraveler 3.0 is available to companies through the GRIC™ alliance of 348 Internet service providers and telcos worldwide. Together they offer more than 2,300 points-of-presence. Businesses can substantially reduce phone charges using the GRIC network for remote access.

Check Point's VPN-1 software incorporates Check Point's superior VPN functionality with the security features of its award-winning FireWall-1 enterprise security suite in a single package, enabling site-to-site and client-to-site VPN capabilities. Additionally, Check Point's VPN-1 solution is enhanced by the OPSEC™ (Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity) management framework, which provides users accessing the GRIC network the full spectrum of enterprise security options, including access control, encryption, authentication, address translation, audit accounting, Java security, anti-virus software and content security, such as URL filtering. Through OPSEC, all aspects of enterprise security can be integrated and managed from a single security policy.

The integration of the GRICdial™ phone book and dialer with Check Point's VPN-1 SecuRemote™ client encryption software extends the VPN to the desktop and laptop, where it will be able to deliver plug-and-play usability and will provide a single point of authentication for easy network management and security.

"Adding support for Check Point's VPN-1 solution to GRICtraveler addresses a major concern businesses have about Internet security," said Dr. Hong Chen, president and CEO of GRIC Communications. "By bringing our capabilities together, we will be offering the first Internet roaming product using Check Point's market-leading VPN software."

"With increasing numbers of companies turning to the Internet to conduct secure, reliable business communications, cost-effective global access is a must," said Dr. Deborah Triant, CEO and president of Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "By combining Check Point's expertise with the GRIC network, users will be able to access the Internet anywhere with the highest degree of security."
