OPSEC Integration to Give Pronto Watch Users the Edge in Keeping Leading Enterprise Security Software Running at Full Operational Capacity SANTA CLARA, Calif. - November 9, 1998 - Proactive Networks, an innovator in intelligent monitoring solutions for business-critical applications and networks, today announced its membership in Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.'s (NASDAQ: CHKPF) Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSEC) Alliance. OPSEC is the industry's first enterprise-wide security framework through which customers can easily, seamlessly and selectively integrate a full spectrum of best-of-breed security applications, defined and driven by a single, central enterprise-wide security policy. As a member of the OPSEC Alliance, Proactive Networks will develop a module to integrate its Pronto Watch turnkey real-time monitoring solution with Check Point FireWall-1, an application suite that integrates access control, authentication, encryption, network address translation, content security, auditing and connection control. Through the OPSEC Alliance, customers are assured of continued compatibility between Proactive Networks' Pronto Watch and Check Point's products. "Security solutions are critical components of enterprise networks and must be kept running at peak operational levels at all times," said Ajay Singh, president and CEO of Proactive Networks. "We are working with Check Point to add FireWall-1 to the inventory of business-critical applications monitored by Pronto Watch. As a result, Pronto Watch customers will have advanced warning on potential security breaches and can take remedial action before an unauthorized intrusion occurs." "We are pleased to have Proactive Networks as a member of the OPSEC Alliance," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of marketing and business development at Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "The ability of Pronto Watch to isolate and correct faults before they can degrade or disable critical network services will be valuable for Check Point's FireWall-1 customers."
Pronto Watch continuously monitors business critical network infrastructure services -- such as DHCP, BOOTP, HTTP, SMTP, DNS, NFS, FTP and Telnet -- as well as network infrastructure systems including LANs, WANs, routers, switches and servers, for availability and service level degradation. It provides proactive notification of trends, such as poor application service response time, that could lead to serious problems. Pronto Watch also determines whether poor response time is due to the application or the network. Pronto Watch offers the following four core capabilities:
To assist with troubleshooting, the worst offenders in each performance category are clearly highlighted in the web-based GUI. In addition, by providing critical performance trends, such as utilization statistics, Pronto Watch supports capacity decisions, enabling optimization of equipment and WAN expenses. Further, a Health Summary presents the overall health of the enterprise on a daily basis. As a turnkey solution, Pronto Watch enables users to spend their time on productive activities rather than on tool administration.
