Tivoli and Check Point Integrate Systems Management and Enterprise Security Products

Tivoli Joins Check Point Software's OPSEC Alliance, Furthers Security Platform

Austin, Texas, March 16, 1998 – Tivoli Systems, the world's leading supplier of network, systems, and applications management solutions, today announced the integration of TME 10 with the Check Point FireWall-1 enterprise security solution from Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKPF). In addition, Tivoli has become a member of Check Point's OPSECTM (Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity) Alliance, further reinforcing the OPSEC platform as the de facto industry standard for enterprise security solutions.

The integration of FireWall-1 with the Tivoli Enterprise Console and Tivoli Distributed Monitoring products automates security tasks enabling customers to ensure more consistent execution and more customization of security processes. This new solution also will alert customers when illegal entry attempts are made to access their systems. This will allow customers to investigate and halt illegal attempts to get beyond the firewall.

"Tighter integration among security products, and overall systems management frameworks, should provide the additional functionality customers are seeking."

Through Tivoli and Check Point's integrated management solution, customers can optimize enterprise security and systems management providing a bullet-proof level of security while minimizing administrative costs. Specifically:

  • The integration with Tivoli Distributed Monitoring ensures the automated detection and reporting of security events from network and system devices across the enterprise.
  • The integration of the Tivoli Enterprise Console provides intelligent correlation of security events on the FireWall-1 device with events on distributed servers and other IT assets. Thus, sophisticated cross-system attacks can be detected and prevented.
  • The secure event integration between FireWall-1 and the TME Framework Task Management capabilities is achieved via Check Point's OPSEC SDK. Through this integration, certain operations are automated, such as generating a management report each night listing all unsuccessful unauthorized access attempts made on FireWall-1.

Top-To-Bottom Security

Unified by CheckPoint's OPSEC framework, the integration of TME 10 and Firewall-1 provides complete security for the enterprise. Should tampering occur to the firewall or log files, TME 10 Distributed Monitoring will provide alarm and alert an IT administrator to ensure that the event is investigated and stopped immediately. CheckPoint FireWall-1 provides enterprise security and a VPN application suite that integrates access control, authentication, encryption, network address translation, content security, and auditing.

Availability

The first commercial offering, available immediately, is a free 30-day trial of Check Point FireWall-1 with the purchase of TME 10 Security Management. Existing TME 10 Security Management customers will be mailed a free trial version of FireWall-1. The integration module to deploy TME 10 and FireWall-1 will be available to FireWall-1 customers from Check Point on or before the end of Q2 1998. Pricing will be determined at that time.
