WEB SWITCHES CERTIFIED TO
PROVIDE SEAMLESS HIGH AVAILABILITY SERVICES
SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 20, 1999--
/PRNewswire/ via NewsEdge Corporation -- Alteon WebSystems
today announced that its award-winning Web switches for high
availability have been certified by Check Point Software Technologies
Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), under its internationally recognized
OPSEC(TM) Certification program. Alteon's ACEdirector and
Alteon 180 Web switches have been proven interoperable with
Check Point's(TM) VPN-1/FireWall-1(R) product lines providing
a seamless high availability solution for users.
"Check Point's VPN and security solutions are business
critical enablers for eBusiness across the Internet,"
said Asheem Chandna, vice president of marketing and business
development at Check Point Software Technologies. "We
are very pleased that Alteon WebSystems has achieved OPSEC
certification, enabling our joint customers to deploy high-availability
across their security implementations."
The proven effectiveness of the combined solution has been
demonstrated by a number of companies including Rogers Communications
and DLJdirect who are load balancing traffic to multiple Check
Point firewalls using Alteon 180 Web switches.
Unlike traditional LAN switches, Web switches integrate sophisticated
traffic management functions within a high performance Ethernet
switch. Alteon's Web Switches maintain the state of all network
sessions, switching session traffic at ultra high-speeds,
to deliver Check Point users maximum performance, scalability
and availability.
Gigabit Ethernet connectivity provides high-speed throughput
from Alteon Web switches to Check Point firewalls while advanced
load balancing services enable firewall performance to be
easily scaled. By intelligently distributing traffic among
firewalls, Alteon's Web switches also allow all firewalls
to be active, eliminating the need for hot standby devices.
Alteon's Web switches deliver high availability through the
use of intelligent health checking mechanisms. In the event
of a failure, user traffic is automatically directed to another
firewall allowing users to avoid loss of active sessions.
