Check Point Software Chairman and CEO Gil Shwed Joins BackWeb's Board of Directors

SAN JOSE, Calif. - May 19, 1999 - BackWeb Technologies, a leading provider of Internet communication infrastructure and applications for the extended enterprise, today announced that Gil Shwed, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in secure enterprise networking, has joined its Board of Directors. Shwed is a co-founder of Check Point Software Technologies and has led the company to dominate the network security and VPN markets.
