Nokia IP Security Appliances Running Check Point Software Enable C&W to Quickly and Cost Effectively Roll out Additional High Quality Services Mountain View, Calif. --October 5, 1999-- Nokia today announced that Cable & Wireless has selected its line of network security appliances to begin offering virtual private networking and managed firewall services to its customers. By choosing Nokia appliances, which are specially designed for easy, low cost installation and management, Cable & Wireless can immediately begin offering high quality security services to its customers without dramatically increasing overhead costs. The new services enable Cable & Wireless customers to add unparalleled Internet security and the ability to connect branch offices, remote workers and business-to-business extranet partners via the Internet to their existing services. Nokia security appliances leverage Check Point Software Technologies, Ltd.'s industry leading software and are designed to integrate key features of firewall and VPN technology including data encryption, tunneling, firewall, security, remote client access and remote management in an easy to install and maintain networking appliance. A high availability function, long included with Nokia security solutions allows two units, deployed side by side, to load balance and to fail over to one another if needed, protecting users against Internet reachability issues, link failures and component failures.
