VERITAS Software and Check Point Software Technologies Team to Deliver Robust, High-Availability Check Point FireWall-1 Server Solution

Combined Solution will Ensure Secure, Continuous, 24-hour Operations for Enterprise Customers

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--March 23, 1999 - VERITAS Software Corporation (Nasdaq: VRTS), the leading provider of end-to-end storage management solutions, today announced that its VERITAS FirstWatch for Solaris has achieved OPSEC (Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity) certification from Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP).

OPSEC certification assures compatibility between VERITAS FirstWatch for Solaris and Check Point FireWall-1 4.0, providing a highly available enterprise security solution that has no single point of failure.

VERITAS has built a customized VERITAS FirstWatch agent to meet Check Point's OPSEC certification standards for high availability solutions that can be used with Check Point FireWall-1 4.0. This VERITAS FirstWatch/Check Point FireWall-1 combination provides customers with continuous, uninterrupted firewall protection during occurrences such as a system or application failure. Through the use of secure heartbeats working to prohibit intrusion, the combination will also protect customers' information resources from attempted wrongful access by unauthorized users.

"Check Point Software's OPSEC Alliance has a rigorous, highly respected certification test designed to ensure interoperability between Check Point's network security products and third-party applications,'' said Eric Burgener, group product manager, high-availability and clustering products, for VERITAS. ``By meeting Check Point's high certification standards with our OPSEC Certified VERITAS FirstWatch for Solaris, VERITAS is demonstrating to customers that its products will work seamlessly with those from Check Point Software; we expect an increased acceptance of VERITAS FirstWatch among FireWall-1 users.''

"We're delighted to report that VERITAS, a leader in providing high availability (HA) solutions for enterprises world wide, has become our latest OPSEC partner,'' said Asheem Chandna, vice president of marketing and business development, Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. ``VERITAS' popular HA product, VERITAS FirstWatch, received our coveted OPSEC certification by successfully demonstrating interoperability with our industry-leading enterprise security product, FireWall-1 Version 4.0. Both VERITAS and Check Point Software are now committed to providing the most robust security solutions available, offering both high-network security and high data availability.''
