Xcert Joins Check Point Software OPSEC Alliance for Guaranteed Interoperability of PKI Products

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - May 25, 1999 - Xcert International Inc., the premier developer of software products for securing business-to-business electronic commerce over the Internet, announced today it has joined Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.'s (Nasdaq: CHKP) Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSEC) Alliance. Xcert's public key infrastructure (PKI) and digital certificate products will be integrated with Check Point Software's VPN-1 Gateway and SecuRemote client software products for seamless interoperability.

Xcert's membership in the OPSEC Alliance strengthens Check Point Software's recent open PKI initiative as part of Check Point Software's 1999 VPN roadmap. Check Point Software has more than 17,000 VPN-1 Gateway installations and has deployed millions of SecuRemote VPN clients. Participation in the alliance provides Xcert's customers with the assurance that they can seamlessly integrate Check Point's firewall and VPN solutions with Xcert's Sentry CA and broadens Check Point Software's ability to offer market-leading PKI technologies and provide additional interoperability with Xcert to enable secure and manageable VPN deployments across global networks.

"Customers are widely deploying VPN-1 Gateways across their enterprise to provide secure communication between branch offices, remote/mobile employees and partners/suppliers," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of marketing and business development for Check Point Software Technologies. "Check Point Software's VPN-1 Gateway scales to support tens of thousands of SecuRemote clients, as such a scaleable authentication mechanism is a requirement. PKI provides the scaleable authentication mechanism necessary for VPN-1 Gateway deployments. OPSEC compliance will provide Xcert customers with the assurance that they can seamlessly integrate Check Point's market leading scaleable VPN-1 Gateway solution with Xcert's PKI."

"Xcert's commitment to interoperate within the OPSEC Framework will make Xcert's best-of-breed Internet-based PKI solutions available to Check Point's installed base of 30,000 customers and 77,000 installations," said Cecil Dye, vice president of sales and marketing of Xcert. "Xcert's digital certificates offer the highest assurance for the Internet and enable non-repudiable business-to-business e-commerce across corporate firewalls and between multiple VPNs."

The Xcert Sentry CA 3.5 product suite provides the electronic assurance necessary to conduct sensitive, confidential business over the Internet or through intranet, extranet and VPN applications. Sentry CA 3.5 lets an organization own and operate its own digital certificate authority (CA) according to its existing business practices. It is the only solution to interoperate with all other standard PKI systems and extend PKI beyond the firewall, enabling enterprises to exchange digital certificates with business partners and customers regardless of location. Xcert's technology enables financial institutions, large corporations and government agencies to increase revenue and improve productivity by conducting sensitive business transactions electronically.

Xcert's customers are able to use digital signatures and strong cryptography to cost effectively manage confidential and non-repudiable communications with hundreds of thousands of users outside the firewall and from other virtual private networks. OPSEC compliance will ensure that Xcert's standards based digital certificates can be deployed to the installed base of millions of existing VPN-1 clients to support e-business without requiring an additional expenditure on client software or proprietary application protocols.
