Datakey
provides the first PKI smart card product to integrate with
Check Point Software's market-leading virtual private
network technology MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 6, 2000 Datakey, Inc., (Nasdaq: DKEY; www.datakey.com), a leading provider of smart card solutions for public key infrastructure (PKI), announced that it has been accredited with OPSEC Certification by Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP). With OPSEC (Open Platform for Security) Certification, Datakey's PKI smart card product becomes the first to integrate with Check Point Software's market-leading VPN-1 product family. VPN-1 integrates advanced virtual private networking as a core component of an overall enterprise security policy. "Providing users with scalable and secure PKI-based solutions is critical for enabling e-business VPNs," said Bradley Brown, director of Business Development at Check Point Software. "Smart cards play an important role in Check Point's Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture by securely storing a VPN-1 end user's digital security credentials, thereby providing the level of trust many users require for e-business transactions." Datakey first to add smart cards to VPN-1 family The situation: Virtual private networks enable secure e-business across the enterprise by sending encrypted information through the public telecommunications infrastructure. Check Point Software's VPN-1 can further increase security and productivity through the use of digital certificates and smart cards. The solution: Datakey's SignaSURE CIP (Cryptographic Interface Provider) smart card product provides two-factor security: a password and a cryptographic smart card. The smart card stores and processes a user's digital credentials, thereby eliminating their private keys from workstations and isolating them from exposure to the network. The product enables users to easily upgrade their software-only systems to smart cards for stronger security at workstations and for VPN access. "We are pleased to join
the OPSEC Alliance, which enables us to work closely with
Check Point Software, its partners, and its customers to ensure
private communications and to verify user identity within
a virtual private network environment," said Carl Boecher,
president and CEO of Datakey. "Check Point Software's
proactive stance on the use of PKI technology within virtual
private networks further validates our commitment to delivering
open, interoperable smart card-based information security
and digital signature products." About Datakey, Inc. Datakey, Inc. is a leading international provider of smart card solutions for PKI. Headquartered in Minneapolis, Minn., the company offers a family of smart card-based information security and digital signature products under the SignaSURETM umbrella.
