Cerberian Joins Check Point Software's OPSEC Alliance
|
Alliance Reinforces Cerberian's Position as a Leading Provider of Web Content Filtering Solutions August 27, 2001, Salt Lake City- Cerberian, Inc., today announced today that it has joined Check Point Software Technologies' (Nasdaq: CHKP) OPSEC (Open Platform for Security) Alliance Program. Joining Check Point's award-winning OPSEC Alliance Program is the first step in working towards obtaining OPSEC certification, which ensures Cerberian Internet Manager seamlessly interoperates with Check Point's market-leading VPN-1®/FireWall-1® Internet security solutions - an integral part of its Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture. Check Point's SVN® architecture provides the infrastructure that enables secure and reliable Internet communications between networks, systems, applications, and users across the Internet, Intranets and extranets. Cerberian has developed a revolutionary and easy-to-use solution for managing, monitoring and reporting on employee and home Internet use. Most content filtering solutions require a large footprint of their rated and categorized URL database and/or their application to reside on the desktop or proxy server-an inefficient and ineffective approach to content filtering. Cerberian has taken a unique approach to content filtering by delivering the industry's first Web-based, outsourced solution that includes a lightweight agent that can reside on a desktop computer or an edge device such as a firewall, proxy server or network appliance. The Cerberian Content Security Vault is a managed, outsourced solution that includes a database of over 22 million rated and categorized URLs-the largest in the industry. The database is centrally managed and dynamically updated in real-time, negating the need to push content updates to customers on a regular basis. "We are delighted to become an OPSEC Alliance partner," said Jeff Smith, CEO of Cerberian. "With our unique approach to content filtering, we're looking forward to joining forces with Check Point, enabling us to offer best-of-breed web content filtering solutions to the market place." For businesses, Cerberian's technology increases productivity by addressing lost work time due to Internet use for leisure and non-business pursuits. According to new Internet ratings from Nielsen/NetRatings, the number of workers using the Web on the job jumped by 23 percent in the past year, to more than 42 million. The same Web users at work logged on more frequently and to more sites as well. Almost all Web site categories saw an increase in traffic among workers. Traffic to finance sites mushroomed by 42 percent; visits to online travel sites soared 31 percent. Nearly 15 percent of all Americans access the Internet from their workplace, and that will continue to grow according the rating serviced. Cerberian's technology provides a simple and affordable vehicle to resolve all of these issues. Cerberian Internet Manager makes managing network bandwidth and increasing user productivity easy and affordable. To manage and deploy Cerberian Internet Manager requires no additional hardware or IT staff, making the technology ideal for small-to medium-sized enterprises. The solution is highly customizable and provides the most powerful reporting tool of any product in its class making it easy to get drill-down reports on global or individual Internet usage. Although primarily designed for business use, Cerberian Internet Manager is also available for home and family PC users. According to national research from the Safe America Foundation, 53 percent of teens have encountered pornographic, hate, and violent content on the Internet. Without effective (and affordable) Internet access control tools, this problem will only increase. About
