Intrusion Inc. Completes Line of "Secured by Check Point" VPN Security Appliances for Enterprise Deployments

Intrusion PDS 5000 Series Offers OPSEC Compatibility, Faster Processing and Exceptional Affordability

Richardson, TX, Nov. 13, 2001 - Broadening its line of "Secured by Check Point" Intrusion PDS appliances, Intrusion Inc. (NASDAQ: INTZ), a leading provider of enterprise security solutions for the information-driven economy, today announced its Intrusion PDS 5315 and Intrusion PDS 5515 expandable, rack mountable appliances have achieved "Secured by Check Point" certification from Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ:CHKP). Through "Secured by Check Point" certification, the Intrusion PDS 5000 series integrates with Check Point's market-leading VPN-1/FireWall-1 providing customers an ideal solution to secure their corporate network. .

The purpose-built appliances feature industry-leading expandability in a 1U high form factor with three PCI card slots for additional Ethernet and WAN interfaces enabling customers to leverage their investment in the appliances to secure more of their network. Upcoming developments will also include compatibility with VPN accelerator cards. To make the appliances even more competitive, Intrusion Inc. is also introducing new, pricing that is up to 31% less than previously published prices.

Engineered for server room data centers, large enterprises and managed security providers, the new Intrusion PDS 5000 series appliances feature faster processors and greater memory than competing appliances. The current line of PDS appliances have a very high level of hardware commonality, ranging from the PDS2110 for small and medium businesses and enterprise remote offices through the new 5000 series for the enterprise corporate office. Additionally, because all Intrusion Inc. PDS appliances feature the Pilot 2.0 appliance management system, customers have the advantage of a single software system for the entire product line, offering a much lower total cost of ownership

PDS 5315

This 1U, 19" rack mountable solution has a minimum 566MHz Intel Celeron II processor, 256MB RAM, 20 GB hard drive and KVM capabilities. It also has three standard PCI slots for additional NICs or WAN interfaces, making this appliance extremely adaptable to each customer's unique IT environment. It also includes a built-in modem with dial-back support and serial and USB connections. This appliance is rigorously tested, certified and pre-installed with Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 software and may be upgraded to Check Point NG. The Intrusion PDS 5315 hardware has a suggested North American retail price of $4,495 USD.

PDS 5515

Designed for power and speed, the PDS 5515 has a minimum 850MHz Intel Pentium lll processor, 512MB RAM, 20 GB hard drive and KVM capabilities. It also contains three standard PCI slots for additional NICs or WAN interfaces, making this appliance extremely adaptable to each customer's unique IT environment. It also includes a built-in modem and serial and USB connections. Just like the PDS 5315, this appliance is 1U high and 19" rack mountable and pre-installed with Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 software and may be upgraded to Check Point NG. The suggested North American retail price of the Intrusion PDS 5515 hardware is $5,495 USD.

Intrusion PDS Security Appliance Family

The complete family of Intrusion PDS security appliances begin with the new, powerful PDS 5500 series, followed by the similarly expandable, but more affordable PDS 5300. The PDS 5100 is a highly deployable, 1U high, 19" rack mount appliance. The PDS 2300 is the first of the desktop appliances that is 8-1/2 x 11" and 1-3/4" high for securing remote offices with more than 25 users. The PDS 2100 is also a desktop appliance and runs Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 SmallOffice software for securing small remote and branch offices.

Intrusion PDS Pilot Appliance Management Software

Intrusion PDS Pilot 2.0, included with all PDS security appliances, provides IT professionals with an easy-to-use, Web-based management system. All Intrusion Inc. appliances use the same management software and operating system. PDS Pilot software delivers an extensible, secure platform to stage, remotely manage and diagnose all PDS appliances. Designed to work with any Web browser, it offers management consistency to increase operational ease for security administrators.
