New Version of RainWall Simplifies Cluster Management with Web-based Configuration Wizard SAN JOSE, Calif., December 3, 2001 - Rainfinity, the leading provider of high availability software for e-business, today announced the availability of a new version of RainWall that has achieved OPSEC (Open Platform for Security) certification on Check Point Software Technologies' (NASDAQ: CHKP) Next Generation (NG) Internet security platform. RainWall delivers higher performance by supporting Check Point NG's accelerated state synchronization feature, which enables transparent fail-over and load balancing at a faster rate. In order to achieve the OPSEC certification, RainWall endured stringent laboratory testing and successfully proved its ability to interoperate and integrate seamlessly with Check Point VPN-1®/FireWall-1® NG in a four-node clustered environment. In conjunction with support for Check Point NG, the new version of RainWall provides a Web-Based Configuration Wizard. The Configuration Wizard simplifies management of clustered nodes by centralizing and automating the configuration process from a web browser, instead of editing multiple configuration files. The Configuration Wizard verifies that operating system, Check Point, and RainWall configurations are consistent across multiple nodes in the cluster. As a result, the time it takes to convert a standalone firewall into a firewall cluster is greatly reduced and configuration errors are virtually eliminated. "We are pleased to award the OPSEC high availability and load balancing certification to Rainfinity," said Upesh Patel, manager, OPSEC Alliance. "The VPN-1/FireWall-1 Gateway provides customers with a mission-critical, secure connection to the Internet that must be continuously up and running. Rainfinity's RainWall provides customers with a best of breed VPN-1/FireWall-1 high availability and load balancing solution." "As we continue to work closely with Check Point and carry-on our history of innovation, Rainfinity is proud to be among the first high availability with load balancing companies to receive OPSEC certification for Check Point NG," said John Schroeder, vice president of marketing and corporate development at Rainfinity. "Enterprises migrating to Check Point NG can confidently deploy RainWall to protect mission-critical firewalls and VPNs for e-business." RainWall clusters multiple VPN-1/FireWall-1 gateways to provide redundancy and increase capacity. RainWall software runs on the same platform as the VPN-1/FireWall-1 gateway, eliminating the need for additional layers of proprietary hardware. RainWall continuously monitors connectivity, software, and hardware failures. When it detects failures, RainWall instantly shifts traffic from failing gateways to healthy ones in the cluster, without disrupting existing connections. More than just static load sharing, RainWall's intelligent load balancing feature measures each gateway's traffic load in real-time and dynamically distributes traffic across all the nodes in the cluster to maximize total throughput. RainWall scales linearly, increasing firewall and VPN capacity as nodes are added to the cluster, so you can grow incrementally without replacing existing hardware RainWall is easy to install and configure, minimizing training needs and ongoing operating expenses.
