Stonesoft's StoneBeat® FullCluster on Linux Achieves Check Point's OPSEC Certification and Expands its High Availability with Load Balancing Offering

HELSINKI, Finland and ATLANTA - Oct. 4, 2001 - Stonesoft Corporation (HEX: SFT1V), a leading provider of enterprise-level security and high availability software solutions, today announced that its StoneBeat® FullCluster™ version 2.0 for the Linux operating system has achieved Check Point Software Technologies' OPSEC® (Open Platform for Security) Certification. As one of the original members of the more than 300 companies that are a part of OPSEC, Stonesoft is a long-time Check Point solutions partner, and the OPSEC certification guarantees that Stonesoft's StoneBeat products integrate fully with Check Point's Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture to provide customers with a broad choice of interoperable Internet security solutions.

StoneBeat FullCluster provides dynamic load balancing and automatic fail-over within a firewall cluster, eliminating a possible single point of network failure and ensuring that mission-critical Internet/intranet connections are not only secure, but highly available as well. These capabilities have become essential elements in VPN and firewall installations that service eBusiness applications. Check Point's VPN-1®/FireWall-1® advanced clustering capability, combined with the high availability and load balancing provided by Stonesoft's StoneBeat FullCluster, maximizes performance and availability for the most demanding customer installations.

"The combination of Linux, Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 and StoneBeat FullCluster is an appealing offer for many customers.," said Jari Raappana, vice president, corporate business development, Stonesoft Corporation. "This certification is a result of several years of close cooperation between Stonesoft and Check Point, and it clearly demonstrates to our customers both companies' commitment to full interoperability."

"OPSEC certification ensures interoperability with Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1," said Upesh Patel, manager, OPSEC Alliance. "We are pleased that Stonesoft has maintained FullCluster's OPSEC HA/LB certification with VPN-1/FireWall-1."

StoneBeat FullCluster previously received OPSEC certification on Solaris and Microsoft Windows NT. Stonesoft's other high availability solution, StoneBeat HA™, which supports Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1, originally received OPSEC certification in 1998 and has since been certified on Solaris and NT.
