Stratum8 Achieves OPSEC™ Certification for Check Point's Next Generation Internet Security Platform

Stratum8's Application Protection System (APS) Integrates with Industry's Most Recognized Security Framework for Web Application Protection

SUNNYVALE, CA (April 11, 2002) - Stratum8 Inc., today announced that it has achieved OPSEC® (Open Platform for Security) certification for its flagship Application Protection System (APS) product, from Check Point™ Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet. Through OPSEC certification, customers can be assured of the Stratum8 APS's seamless integration with Check Point's market-leading VPN-1®/FireWall-1® software. This integration provides a foundation for high-performance, real-time application and network level security to join forces to protect corporate servers and data assets.

"Real-time security for enterprises running significant web applications requires a tightly integrated combination of network, host and application protection solutions," stated Abhishek Chauhan, CTO and co-founder of Stratum8. "The APS will not only block application level hacking and malicious intrusions but also coordinate with the Check Point solution to alert and block suspicious traffic at the gateway itself. APS administrators can fine-tune this interaction based on key variables such as number of hack attempts before gateway interception."

The Stratum8 Application Protection System (APS) provides in-line, real-time application level security as a compliment to firewall, IDS and authorization-level security solutions. The APS sits in the data path, performs analysis on all web traffic between the web servers and browsers, and blocks hacking and malicious intrusions based on the specific behavior of the protected web sites. The Stratum8 APS provides deep content analytics, automatically learns and improves performance, and can be deployed quickly with little or no customization. The underlying threading and compiler architectures of the APS allow for real-time deep application analysis without introducing latency into the network.

"Protecting web applications from malicious activity and attacks is critical," said Upesh Patel, manager OPSEC Alliance. "We are pleased that Stratum8 has OPSEC certified the APS with Check Point NG. This seamlessly interoperable web application protection solution leverages both the APS technology and the Check Point NG to detect and block application attacks in real-time."
