Top Layer Networks Achieves OPSEC Certification from Check Point Software

Top Layer's SecureWatch™ Network Security Product Enables Seamless Integration between Top Layer's Attack Mitigator and Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1

WESTBORO, Mass. - Sept. 9, 2002 - Top Layer Networks, Inc., a leading provider of globally proven intrusion detection and prevention solutions, today announced that it has achieved OPSEC™ (Open Platform for Security) certification for its SecureWatch network security product from Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet. OPSEC certification of SecureWatch assures that Top Layer's Attack Mitigator seamlessly integrates with Check Point's Next Generation VPN-1®/FireWall-1® software.

Using Top Layer's SecureWatch to couple Check Point's extensive VPN and firewall capabilities with Top Layer's high-speed hardware-based Attack Mitigator network security appliances, customers gain a better understanding of their network activity, thereby improving security with a complete solution that includes VPNs, firewalls, extensive attack prevention and real-time data forensics.

"Attaining OPSEC certification demonstrates our continued commitment to engineering the most effective network security appliances that meet market demands for security protection," said Mike Reed, vice president of business development, Top Layer Networks. "Combining Check Point's robust VPN and firewall technology with Top Layer's sophisticated Attack Mitigator and SecureWatch products provide organizations with a comprehensive approach to intrusion prevention."

Top Layer's Attack Mitigator is a high-performance security appliance that resides between a company's Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 solution and its router to monitor all traffic for anomalies and protects networks against DoS, DDoS, worm and flood attacks by intelligently filtering and removing malicious packets. SecureWatch is Top Layer's traffic monitoring and event reporting software solution that can export detailed events and alarm records from Attack Mitigator appliances via a wide range of protocols and interfaces for centralized viewing and analysis. This holistic view of network activity provides customers with coordinated responses to intrusions by enabling network operators to perform more complete event correlation between security systems.

"Organizations need to take an active role in their intrusion detection and prevention initiatives to minimize and eliminate threats to their networks," said Upesh Patel, manager of the OPSEC Alliance for Check Point Software Technologies. "We are pleased Top Layer's SecureWatch has achieved OPSEC certification, enabling customers to proactively manage, understand and defeat the onslaught of network attacks through tight integration with Check Point's comprehensive VPN-1/FireWall-1 solutions."
