New Software for RapidStream High-Performance VPN and Firewall Appliances is Optimized for Check Point SecurePlatform

SEATTLE--May 7, 2003- WatchGuard Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:WGRD - News) today announced new RapidStream software version 6.0 for the RapidStream line of high-performance, ASIC-based VPN and firewall security appliances.

Because RapidStream v6.0 is the brand's first software release based on Check Point Software's (Nasdaq:CHKP - News) SecurePlatform technology, RapidStream security products now take advantage of Check Point's own hardened version of Linux, tightly integrated with Check Point's SecureXL acceleration API and VPN-1/FireWall-1 application for enhanced security and streamlined compatibility with future Check Point releases. RapidStream software v6.0 supports Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 Next Generation Feature Pack 3, Hot Fix 2.

RapidStream products incorporate the RapidCore processor, an intelligent custom security ASIC, and leverage the Check Point SecureXL performance framework that enables hardware accelerators to execute security operations. RapidStream appliances deliver up to 1.2 Gbps VPN-1 throughput and up to 2 Gbps FireWall-1 throughput by routing network traffic through the RapidCore processor and completely bypassing the main CPU and system bus while still enforcing security policies. RapidCore processors perform parallel processing of VPN-1 and FireWall-1 functions, Network Address Translation (NAT), Denial of Service (DoS) attack protection and IP Security (IPSec) policies.

The RapidStream line includes the 11000, 8100, 6100, 2200 and 2100 VPN and firewall appliances, which are designed to provide security for medium-to-large distributed enterprises, high-bandwidth data centers, service providers, and satellite and branch offices. All RapidStream appliances have passed a rigorous testing process to be certified as "Secured by Check Point" for optimal operation, ease of use, and interoperability.

RapidStream version 6.0 software is available immediately from the RapidStream support site at www.rapidstream.com/support at no charge for RapidStream customers with a current RapidCare support contract. Prior to upgrading to RapidStream v6.0, RapidStream users will need to obtain Check Point software VPN-1/FireWall-1 Feature Pack 3, Hot Fix 2 for Linux from the Check Point Web site.
