Resilience and Secos Deliver First Integrated Network Intrusion Detection and Prevention Appliance Optimized for Check Point NG

Plug-and-Play Solution Consolidates Firewall and IDS on Single Network Security Appliance

NetWorld + Interop, LAS VEGAS, April 29, 2003 - Resilience Corporation and Secos Inc. today announced a partnership to deliver the first intrusion detection and prevention (IDP) solution that combines firewall and intrusion detection in a single appliance optimized for Check Point NG. The joint solution provides seamless integration between FireWall-1® Next Generation™ from Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP) and SecoShield NG, a network-based intrusion detection system with dynamic adapting capabilities. The new Resilience DX4000 IDP appliance offers enterprise customers an all-in-one turnkey solution for intrusion detection and prevention.

The Resilience DX4000 IDP appliance eliminates the expense of acquiring, installing and deploying separate systems for firewall and intrusion detection by tightly integrating both functions onto one appliance. This solution delivers an unprecedented level of integration with the Check Point environment, making it the premier intrusion detection and prevention choice for enterprises that have standardized on Check Point security software. Both the Resilience DX4000 and SecoShield NG have been OPSEC™ certified and have undergone a rigorous testing regimen by Check Point. In addition, the appliance is designed to minimize complexity by supporting plug-and-play installation that requires only minutes to deploy.

"The firewall alone is insufficient to protect today's network,' said David Cho, chief technology officer, Secos. "The Resilience DX4000 IDP appliance combines the absolutely critical functions of the firewall with intelligent network intrusion detection capable of dynamically adapting to and preventing new threats. The result is real protection against hacker attacks, worms and other malicious intruders that can cause irreparable damage to an enterprise."

The Resilience DX4000 IDP Appliance
The Resilience DX4000 Intrusion Detection and Prevention appliance is a 3U, rack-mounted appliance housing two integrated hardware modules. Data packets are filtered through Check Point FireWall-1 and then passed through to SecoShield NG network intrusion detection software. SecoShield both detects and prevents attacks by continuously monitoring network activity for patterns of attacks or signatures and performing real-time modification of the firewall rule set to secure against new intrusions. While many IDS systems are either signature or policy based, SecoShield is signature, policy, anomaly and re-analysis based, making it the gold standard among intrusion detection and prevention systems. All software is pre-installed and ready to license, requiring only a few minutes to install.

Supporting up to 16 auto-sensing Ethernet ports interfaces, the Resilience DX4000 IDP appliance easily adapts to the customer's network requirements, providing advanced levels of security. Using multiple interfaces, networks can be segmented into more pieces, better separating potential threats from valuable resources, fully utilizing the functionality of Resilience's multi- network interface card (NIC) support technology.

Resilience integrated High Availability
The Resilience DX4000 Intrusion Detection and Prevention appliance is built upon Resilience's integrated High Availability platform, which offers multiple levels of high availability and performance to meet the needs of every level of the enterprise, from remote office to corporate data centers. The Resilience iHA platform also supports the DX4000 family of Check Point VPN/Firewall appliances.

"Resilience's integrated High Availability technology makes an ideal solution platform for mission-critical enterprise applications such as network intrusion detection and prevention," said Steve D'Alencon, vice president of marketing, Resilience Corporation. "The addition of an IDP solution to our family of DX4000 appliances is yet another step towards expanding the reach of our integrated High Availability platform."

Availability
The Resilience DX4000 IDP appliance will be available third quarter 2003 and is being demonstrated at NetWorld+Interop in Las Vegas, Booth #6974.
