Trend Micro OfficeScan Corporate Edition Achieves OPSEC Certification from Check Point Software

Integration between Centralized Client Antivirus Software and Leading VPN/Firewall Solutions Further Enhance Network Security for Enterprises

Cupertino, CA - May 1, 2003 - Trend Micro Inc (TSE: 4704; Nasdaq: TMIC), a leader in network antivirus and Internet content security software and services, announces that Trend Micro OfficeScan™ Corporate Edition version 4.5, a centralized desktop and mobile client antivirus solution, has achieved OPSEC™ certification from Check Point Software Technologies. OPSEC certification signifies that OfficeScan Corporate Edition seamlessly integrates with Check Point's market-leading VPN-1®/FireWall-1® Next Generation solution. The collaboration between Trend Micro and Check Point provides customers with an integrated technology infrastructure between antivirus and firewall solutions and enables an added layer of security for desktop and mobile clients.

"We are pleased to see Trend Micro OfficeScan Corporate Edition pass rigorous testing to achieve OPSEC certification," said Upesh Patel, Group Manager, OPSEC Alliance for Check Point Software Technologies. "Check Point and Trend Micro are the first in the industry to deliver this tight level of integration giving our customers additional end-to-end security to ensure no viruses penetrate the corporate network from users connecting to the VPN."

OfficeScan Corporate Edition provides server-based, centrally managed virus protection for business desktops and mobile systems. By integrating with Check Point's VPN-1® SecureClient™, customers enjoy an added level of protection through the ability to enforce corporate policies when end users connect to the corporate Intranet. Through the use of OPSEC interfaces inside of SecureClient, IT administrators can create a check for the clients machines to ensure the latest scan engines and virus pattern files have been installed; clients not passing this check will be blocked from connecting through the VPN.
