Vidius Achieves OPSEC Certification from Check Point
PortAuthority Seamlessly Integrates with Check Point's Leading Internet Security Software to Secure Networks From Unauthorized Remote Access to Instant Messaging ApplicationsLOS ANGELES, Calif. (January 13, 2004) - Vidius, Inc., today announced that its Vidius PortAuthority® has achieved OPSEC (Open Platform for Security) certification from Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet. Through OPSEC certification, Vidius PortAuthority seamlessly integrates with Check Point's market-leading VPN-1® SecureClientä software using OPSEC interfaces to block remote users from accessing instant messaging (IM) applications. A growing number of enterprises rely on Check Point's sophisticated security technology for multi-layered defense systems. Check Point VPN-1 SecureClient provides Secure Configuration Verification (SCV) checks, a set of conditions that define a securely configured client system, ensuring remote users are secure prior to connecting to the corporate VPN. Vidius PortAuthority relays IM client information to Check Point VPN-1 SecureClient, which then drops the network connection to prevent corporate information from being disseminated over IM applications. "PortAuthority's tight integration with VPN-1 SecureClient provides customers with added assurance that only secure remote desktops legitimately access corporate resources. As information security needs become more complex, Vidius is committed to providing customers with effortless IM application security deployment and management within multi-layered security infrastructure environments," said Ariel Peled, CTO of Vidius. "Our customers realize that IM applications pose a potential threat to corporate integrity," said Upesh Patel, director, business development, for Check Point Software Technologies. "By securing the network against IM applications, security administrators can be assured that their remote employees maintain the same high levels of security as on-site employees, and we are pleased to OPSEC certify Vidius's PortAuthority."
