MetaInfo Announces SAFE Network Alliance to Promote Open Integration Based On Its New Extensible Architecture for Network Access Protection

Seattle, Wash. (October 18, 2005) – MetaInfo, a leading provider of network infrastructure solutions, today announced the formation of the SAFE Network Alliance, a coalition of security products vendors who have achieved tight technical integration with MetaInfo's new SAFE Registration Framework architecture for network access protection.

Introduced in a separate announcement today, SAFE Registration Framework is an extensible architecture for network access protection that enables enterprises to monitor and control network access according to their pre-defined standards. Available now, SAFE Registration Framework is designed to be an alternative to 802.1x and other proposed standards for network access protection. SAFE Registration Framework enables enterprises to centrally manage and control network use policies, including integrating with leading security vendors products.

Initial members include Check Point Software and RSA Security. MetaInfo currently partners with RSA Security through its RSA Secured® program to provide technical interoperability between the SAFE Registration Network and RSA SecurID® two-factor authentication technology.

"We are pleased to welcome such key players in the security products market as Check Point Software and RSA Security as members of our alliance," said Grant Asplund, president of MetaInfo. "With the proliferation of malware and its devastating impact within the enterprise, network access protection has become of increasing concern to businesses, and SAFE Registration Framework has been developed specifically to meet that need. With SAFE Registration Framework, enterprises have an affordable way to add network access protection now, without costly hardware upgrades or switching to proprietary systems, while at the same time integrating with ‘best of breed" security vendors products."

"Establishing an effective strategy to protect identities and digital assets is essential to the growth and success of an organization. Companies must feel confident that vital information and applications remain secure, both inside and outside their operations," said Stuart Cohen, director of partner development at RSA Security. "RSA Security is pleased to participate in the SAFE Network Alliance through the RSA Secured partner program."

"We are pleased to be working with MetaInfo on a joint solution to address network access control requirements," said Amir Ben-Efraim, director of business development for Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP). "The OPSEC Certified integration between Integrity Clientless Security and MetaInfo's SAFE DHCP greatly reduces the complexity of assessing the security stature of endpoints, and controlling their access to the network at the time of connection. Our joint customers can deploy this solution in a matter of days, rather than months of costly infrastructure upgrades as required by alternative solutions."
