Extended Systems and Pointsec Team to Bring Complete, Easy-to-Deploy, Secure Mobile Solutions to the Enterprise
STOCKHOLM, Sweden, and BOISE, Idaho – June 20, 2005
Mobile software leaders Extended Systems and Pointsec, the global leader and the provider of the de facto standard for enterprise security software for laptop and desktop PCs, PDAs and smartphones, today announced a collaboration to bring the most wide-ranging secure mobile solutions to market. This partnership will allow each company to offer an integrated OEM version of the other's solutions to its customers. Through their combined channels, the partnership enables each company to bring powerful and secure mobile solutions, including mail and messaging, device management and mobile applications, to enterprise customers on the platform of their choice.
"We selected the Extended Systems and Pointsec products because they met our mobility requirements for all platforms," said Åke Johansson, ABB Manager Group Senior IS Architect. "This relationship will streamline the integration process for future releases of both products. We are very pleased with the idea of putting in less effort to gain advantage from the latest improvements of Pointsec and Extended Systems' software."
The agreement brings together two entities that are recognized by industry analysts as leaders in their fields. Extended Systems' OneBridge enables organizations to mobilize enterprise applications, manage mobile devices and deploy software to virtually any mobile device type. Pointsec provides industry-leading mobile device security components for a wide variety of mobile devices. Together, the two companies will bring superior and industry-validated solutions to their existing and future customers.
"Components such as mobile security and mobile device management are increasingly being tied to core mobile middleware technologies in order to deliver comprehensive mobile solutions to enterprise customers beyond access to applications," said Stephen Drake, Program Director of IDC's Mobile Software service. "Successful suppliers are those who can deliver on the broader requirement set of organizations beyond the basic mobile data access and recognize customers' needs to support, manage, and secure these new users' devices, operating systems and applications deployed in a mobile solution."
"The Pointsec solution provides Extended Systems with a product offering that is well suited for a large part of our business," said Charles Jepson, President and CEO. "Specifically, they have demonstrated leadership with mobile platforms including Symbian, Microsoft Windows Mobile and Palm. In Western Europe, the Symbian OS leads the market and this is obviously an important consideration for our business."
"Extended Systems' strong expertise in mobile technologies has been the driving force behind their market leadership which is important to Pointsec's growth," said Peter Larsson, CEO of Pointsec Mobile Technologies. "We're finding an increasing number of customers interested in purchasing simple-to-deploy and complete solutions. The value of our combined channels will bring to market a powerful global entity that already shares many Global 2000 customers.
