Pointsec establishes Japanese office
To Market Pointsec products of Client PC Data Security Software
STOCKHOLM, Sweden – July 13, 2005
In response to greater Japanese demand for data security that has accompanied the enforcement of the new Personal Data Protection Law, leading Swedish security software company Pointsec Mobile Technologies has established a Japanese subsidiary to further strengthen its operations in the Japanese market.
Pointsec Mobile Technologies, is the global leader and the de facto standard for enterprise security software for laptop PCs, PDAs, smartphones, USB media, memory floppy disks. Since 2000, the company has been selling its products to business users in Japan through Japanese sales partners. Businesses have had to insure data loss prevention with the Personal Data Protection Law that became effective April 1 of this year. There has been a greater domestic demand for products to address this need since last year and even greater demand is forecast for the future, so Pointsec now establishes a subsidiary to further strengthen its operations in Japan. The company will continue to provide sales support to its sales partners in preparation for increased sales. In addition, the company will execute marketing activities in order to enhance its presence and customer awareness.
Pointsec is the only commercial provider of encryption solutions for mobile devices to be certified under the Evaluation Assurance Level 4 (EAL4) of the Common Criteria classification (note 1), the highest commercial criteria. In addition, Pointsec have received FIPS 140-1 (note 2) certification, a standard used by the U.S. government. Pointsec solutions can be used on all major operating systems including Windows, Palm OS, Pocket PC, Symbian and MS SmartPhone.
The Pointsec Series of products includes Pointsec for PC, data security software for client PCs; Pointsec Media Encryption, data security software for removable media; and Pointsec for Pocket PC, for use with Pocket PCs.
